Fuel pressure gauges

I'm starting to get confused here.

By using a core remover tool, I will be left with a male -4 AN on the fuel rail that I can screw my female -4 AN on to?

Yep...all your doing it taking the valve out of the rail that way there is fuel going through your line to your sending unit. Without removing the valve you wouldnt get any presure comming out of the fitting because of the valve

Well let me sort of correct my self. You should be using a NPT fitting on the rail. So a what ever size female NPT Goes on the whatever size male NPT on the rail.IM almost sure it would be an NPT. Unless youve been told from some one that would know for sure.

The correct adapter style is the AN -4 type fitting, they tighten down and no leaks.

When I read your first post, it clicked. I understand it all now. :th_winking:

Cool, Glad I could help.

For some reason when you said that I realized that the part the cap screws on to is what is the -4 AN thread and all I need to do is get that little valve out. Then I looked up a cross section of a schrader valve and saw how it screws the center part out.

I'm hoping the base hobby shop has a core removal tool I can borrow. Otherwise I'll be stopping by a bike shop and see how cheap I can get one.

It's all installed, and works. Only problem is one side of the NPT coupler was seeping. I teflon taped both sides and the other side does not appear to be leaking. I tried tightening it while it was on there and it only got worse.

I'm going to take it off after the pressure dies down and see about retaping that fitting, but I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions?

Make sure you're wrapping the tape in the correct direction. You want to wrap the tape clockwise. That way when your screwing on the fitting the tape stays where you put it. If thats not the problem just re-tape it.

I already tried re-taping it and it is back to only seeping.

I'm pretty sure I wrapped it clockwise (tightening direction). How many layers should I wrap? I only put one layer down...

Problem solved. I wrapped it like six times (after reading a few how-to's on using teflon tape). Worked like a charm. I must've wrapped the other NPT fitting that much too since it hasn't leaked at all.

Thanks TDC, thanks Farns, and thanks Reptile for the PM help. Gauge works great. :D

Been checking every time I go to turn it on and once I get to my destination. The excess Teflon tape is still perfectly dry, so no leaks.
