fuel line leak

i have a leak at the quick disconnect above the rear valve cover what are you guys doing to solve this issue ? replace with fuel line and clamps? or replace the 90 degree q. disconnect im sure its here in the forums just unable to locate an answer.. im new and fresh to the g.p. forums after a 400.00 puchase of a 02 gp. yesterday. im a hardcore thunderbird supercoupe man (i own three of them at the moment) just thought the gran prix always looked good and decided to check it out.the price was right. only other issue is the famous surging feeling upon acceleration which i feel is driveline related .trans , cv joints , axle however the whole front wheel drive deal is throwing me off a little. any suggestions or comments are welcome on my issues thanks todd..

First I would make sure its on all the way.

If it is and still leaks, you can simply unhook the line, and replace the o-rings inside the head of the quick connect. They are most likely aged, and may have cracks, or a tear in them causing the fuel to leak by under pressure.

The o-rings might not be available from your local parts store, you might have to find a local business who deals in commercial seals and gaskets, and if you bring them the o-ring, they can measure it, and get you a replacement. The o-ring(s) as there maybe two o-rings per quick connect run around $0.70 each tops for a Viton replacement. Very important to make sure is a Viton so it can handle the heat and fuel.

I can get everyone the replacement o-rings for the L67's. The o-rings for the injectors (12 total) feed (2 total) and return line (2 total) is what I recommend replacing. Injectors are easy to do, the digging out of the small, thin little o-rings can prove to be tedious work. but it cheaper than buying a replacement fuel line from GM, thats for sure, since GM has those quick connects as a "non serviceable item".

surging feeling upon acceleration...that's usually a misfire. Plugs?Wires? Coil pack? usually one of those. I'd start with the visual inspection, and make sure everything is connected, all the way, and that each plug wire goes to the correct cylinder. Seen it many times where someone works on the car, and crosses one or two wires.

Front of the engine, its cylinder 1,3,5.
Back of the engine, its 2,4,6.

looking towards the firewall, and going left to right (TRUE front of engine to back of the engine)

Depending on mileage...it might need a simple tune up with new plugs and wires perhaps. A new fuel filter couldn't hurt either. :th_thumbsup-wink:

If it does it and keeps on doing it on the highway, it could be anything from a CV shaft, ball joint, or a motor mount, which is more of a vibration you feel.

slowly bringing it back to life .. cleaned maf changed plugs inspected wires cleaned iac and tps new air filter oil change running better ... i went ahead and cut that 90 quick dis connect fuel line and trew a piece of fuel line with some good clamps no more leak.. just at wot it will cut out kinda like when you rev up at idle . the over revving feature

now with the surging issue i feel its def. drive line related if you let off the gas all smooth or if i throw in nutral smooth so my first thought is an axle bent or somthing feels like a really bent rim but not the case. ive read cv joints but seems as if i would hear some clunking or somthing.. also read wheel bearing but dont see how that could give this symptom. i do know the drivers side bearing is bad i hear it.... while jacked up i can move wheel just a little up and down. other side no movement.. can any one tell me how a bad cv joint or a bad wheel bearing could cause this issue ? 2002 gp gt.. so my 400.00 car is coming around..
its funny how many posts state how tough the plugs are to change. i did it in about 40 min. no problems .... now changing plugs on a t-bird supercoupe thats something to cuss about first time takes about a day and loss of blood sweat and tears... now i can do it in 45 min..its amazing how much easier a normal car is to work on than the supercoupe..... thanks todd
 
i found the post about the cat replacement for a tsb on 2001 and 2002 , im still in range at 115000 miles for this replacement at no cost . i really believe thats the issue for the cutting out at wot plus there is a smell sort of like rotten eggs so it seems plausible.. as for the bent rim feeling syndrome ill have to inspect that a little closer..
