Fuel Injectors Leaking?

Well after a new fuel pump and UIM my old GP is running pretty well. However when I shut it off and go to restart it (warm restart, 20 or 30 mins later) it does alot of cranking (10 to 20 seconds) b4 it starts.

Sometimes I can smell gas, and the oil level has risen about 1/2 a liters in 2000 kms.
This car has 265000 kms on it, Just wonder do injectors go bad and start to leak? (familar with this in Diesel mechancal injection) How does one test them and should I change them all?

When you pull the injector's out you can see that they have rubber o-rings on them. This is what actually seals them. If they are leaking you need to go to the parts store and pick up some new ones and install them.

Problem solved.

It is possible for them to leak internally.

You could easily check them by doing a fuel pressure test. Though, I'd suspect your FPR is leaking before one of the injectors.

Yeah, it not a vaccum leak, its fuel getting into the engine when it should'nt
I guess if I pulled the fuel injectors and pressured up the system buy turning the key on if and a injector is bad I'd see it drip?
New one are over $100 each so changing all 6 just incase it out of the question.

How would you test the fuel pressure regulator?? :th_scratchhead:
I have to check the price on this, if it not too bad just buy one.

If its an external leak you should be able to use some starter fluid to test. Spray the fluid around the injectors and if you notice a difference, youve got a leak.

FPR should be about 20 bucks. PM sent.

autozone would prolly rent a fuel pressure guage for free.

To see if your FPR is shot, take a pair of pliers and pinch the return fuel line so it builds up pressure in the line.
