Fuel Gauge Problems

I have a 2001 Grand Prix GT with a messed up gas gauge. I am at just over half a tank but my tripometer says ive gone only 70 miles. Not only does that seem very off, it seems like it has gone down very quickly and i am very concerned. If anybody knows what to do or how to fix it please reply to this.
