Fuel Filter question

I never changed the fuel filter in my GP before. I bought a new filter and the fuel line disconnect tool but when looking on some general automotive sites, there are suggestions of replacing the "washer" on the fuel line when installing the new filter. Does this apply to our vehicles? If so what do I need?

Sorry if this was already answered, I don't like getting people upset for reposting dumb questions.

not sure about that but an easy way to get most of the fuel out of the line is to pull the fuel pump fuse while the car is running. Just be warned that if you have a ton of mods, your car will be running very lean while the fuel in the line is being used

yeah i understand the whole de-pressure the fuel lines, but i'm more concerned about whether i need a new washer or seal when connecting the new filter to the fuel line, i don't want to disconnect everything and realize i need another part. there doesn't seem to be very much info or parts for sale online but i would rather be safe than sorry.

I do not remember any washer. The fuel filter is secured with a hex-fitting on the line, though...I do not think there is any disconnect tool that works like on the fuel lines under the hood.

no special tool needed, just pinch the ears the one end releases and use 2 wrenches and pull out the filter, simple as that.
