Fuc* xbox

Terrible Idea, don't do the stupid screw trick. It's a temporary fix, I know this because I mod xbox's (the legit way not so you can't go on live) and fixing RROD is easy as pie, take apart your box heat gun the paste and clean it all off (careful what you use) get some real thermal paste and apply gently.

PS. Having any game you want anytime is amazing, and so is having them before they come out :th_mischievious:

So what your saying is that you just apply new thermal paste and expect that to be a good fix? You'll be doing that over and over again. Once you screw it all down after putting better paste on that thing is not going to overheat for a long time. It's about as close to pernament fix as you can get. I also have a modded 120g original xbox and used to be into that, but there comes a point when you gotta stop spending time and money on that stuff altogether.

but still I'm never buying one again. Sony from now on. I'll to to my friends houses to play halo lol seriously **** them. I hate my xbox, like I have had three that broke! Bs

No it's a permanent fix, the paste they used has a low melting point. Use a higher quality paste and you will be fine and never RROD again, the screws is a terrible idea. I have seen it time and time again and is nowhere near permanent.

And agreed, I haven't spent any money on my xbox for two years, mine has been modded for a long long time.

3 years xbox 360 pro hdmi.. i have the cooling fans installed in the rear.. No problems ever, and its used 5-6 hours a day

if its a nyko intercooler, get rid of it, the connector that the power cord plugs into is junk and i have personaly had to fix burned up wires in the ends of friends power supply cords. and fans ontop of fans do nothing for it.

yeah ive been tossing around the idea of modding the xbox for ages, i just have an extended warranty that i dont wanna pooch.. infact im thinking of forcing a RROD somehow so i can get it replaced now that they stoped making the Pro model i will get an upgrade to Elite
forcing rrod can easily be done:th_winking: not saying anymore. and the replacement boxes are going to have the newer drive in it and require more messin around to reflash.

Already been done, time and time again. All the drives can be done, infact I recommend joining a closed forum if you can get in for this stuff if anyone is curious.

?? Do you understand that what I am explaining is using different thermal paste and on top of that a better clamp to ensure that nothing will move? All you have been saying is use a better paste... but thats not going to fix it for long if you use those same ****ty clamps that snap on.

I thought you were talking screw method through the fins :th_nervous:

I work at a UPS Store. I see minimum 2 XBox 360's/day. I maybe see...MAYBE 1 PS3 a month go back.

I went thru 3 360's and I got my 4th and as soon as I plugged it in and powered on, RROD. Called microsoft and they claimed it was either my fault by plugging into an unsafe ungrounded....bunch of bullsh!t...outlet or a shipping defect and they would not cover repair fees...so, I craigslist'ed it and bought a PS3. Love it lol

Geeesh, modding XBoxes. You guys are ****in amazing, hahahaha. At first I thought ya'all were talking about a car part or something, as I read a little further, I realized it was game machines. Lol, can't believe it. You guys should be featured on "Tool Time". I am sure your mothers all have hopped up vacum cleaners, lol.

My 360's only broken once in the few years I've had it.
By the way nicksilvergt I noticed the thing about the DP in your sig...if you have a GT get a 2.5 inch downpipe not a 3, a three could actually slow you down because there won't be enough back pressure. 3 inch DPs are for GTPs and topswaps. Just a tip.

Well for one I now plan on doing a top swap after finding out how cheap they are to do, and I've also been told from many veteran members that the torque loss will me minimal compared to power gained. And lol at the tool time comment hahaha

Oh yeah if you're going to topswap go 3 inch for sure. Good luck with the xbox.

Thanks man, but I still use it but I hate the damn thing. Microsoft just wants to make money, Sony actually makes a quality product. I mean the original fleet of xboxs were recalled

I'm not sure how he does it but I have a friend that can fix red ring in 15 minutes with $10 worth of parts. He also does some INSANE modding to these things, I should post up pics sometime of his work.

Ok, I could use some help from you people in the know. My sons xbox 360 just did the RROD. I went out and bought a bare bones new one with then new chipset in it I heard would not do this, but I'd like to see if I can fix the old one to use as a spare. I bought the new one because we had an event coming up that required Halo 3 and Rock Band.

So any help on what exactly to do or where to go to get the right help would be appreciated. if there are any other mods I 'should' make to this box. I'd appreciate hearing about that as well. Maybe what the earlier posted put up is all I need thought I'd ask.

Ship it to my friend scott, he'll fix it for I believe 50 plus shipping. I can give him a call if you're interested. If not then microsoft is the only other way.

Yep, had the ring of death myself, almost hit the expiration date and sent it in. It was also eating games like lays potato chips...They changed out the drive and fixed the ring of death.....Wonder how long this is gonna last???
