French fry like smell?

The past few days ive noticed something in my car has developed a french fry like odor. I have no idea wheres its coming from and before anyone says it no i have not nor anybody else has eaten fries in my car. I notice when im accelerating more so at about part throttle. The only recent things ive done to my car was replace the egr canister and one window motor. Ive blasted the heat and AC to see if its something under the hood and even checked all my fluids but i got nothing. Any ideas?

what kind or fuel do you use 86,87,89,91 or 93? my catalytic converter developed an odor with the grade of fuel, I basically had the same issue until I changed to shell's 93

Usually between 3 different stations but when i do go to this particular one ive been to recently it hasnt.given me this french fry odor lol. Well im gonna just ignore it for now and use up this tank and see if its still there when i refill.

when I would use Mapco or citgo fuel mine would I stick with shell v-power 93 and it went away, I thought it was my catalytic converter going bad. turned out to be a big ole nope just bad fuel

Well i will say my gas mileage has went up some since then and car feels quicker so it just may be good fuel this time?

lol its a good possibility my car runs like a champ on exon but I cant stand the sulfur smell and its more expensive around here

Sounds like you have a leaking valve cover. The oil will drip onto the manifold and depending what else you have on there, can cause the smell. Accelerating brings up the oil pressure so more oil will leak onto the manifold. Replace your valve cover gaskets and use degreaser on your manifolds.

Also just being curious, were you using your heat when you smelled it? Sometimes if I haven't used the heat in a while, and when I finally do, I smell a burning oil kind of smell.

Now that i think about it,it may be my valve cover gaskets leaking cuz just recently changed my plugs and noticed when i did the rears i had a lil oil on my fingers from touching that back rear head area.
