• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

for those who think modding a grand prix is expensive.

Matt Palm

WHERES THE LAMB SAUCE?!?!
So I was looking up the gt-r that was running in the 7's at a local drag strip and i came across their site. Take a look at the prices and rethink how expensive you think it is to mod your car
Nissan GT-R

Been preaching that for awhile when someone complains about buying replacement parts or modding. These is one if the reasons I stay in the Wbody scene parts are relatively cheap and easy to replace for the most part.

Some of the stuff is worth the money, but the car new is almost triple what our cars were new.

When adjusted, our $25,000 cars (new) were $45,000. Take your fully-loaded GTP and compare that to the top-of-the-line Impala or Chevy SS. Your point is still valid, though: After adjustments, the GT-R values about double ours when new. Due to Enthusiast Taxes (or the premium that the niche can fetch), the Skyline appreciates much better than ours ever will.

Gotta pay to play..the person who buys a GTR is probably not counting pennies one bit so throwing that kind of money at mods isn't a big deal. Those are also the same guys that appreciate how fine of a car It is. If I had the money I wouldn't hesitate to buy one even in stock form they're BEAST!

you can find a gtr on ebay for 65kish all day. not bad if you ask me compared to alot of other cars comparible. id love to have one eventually. but id never have the money to mod it lol

And we all kno how bad Palms is about hoarding parts and not putting them on.

Maintenance would worry me more then anything.

Guy I work with has a GTR. I believe he paid in the realm of $50,000. He's not what I would call rich either.

Who the **** thinks modding a GP is expensive? Its like the cheapest platform out there.

Buddy of mine also has GT-R and he works at Advanced, so ne is not rich either....although he makes a pretty good profit on the evo's he buys and sells

Funny you say that. My buddy with the GTR just sold his Evo for 18,0000 and picked up a 2009 Civic to daily drive for 7,500. Put the profit right on the GTR.

buddy has had 4 evos that he bought that needed work for dirt cheap and sold them for cash. Traded 2 more and some cash on the GT-R. One of the 2 was his track car that was pretty heavily modified and the other was his dd.

It's all relative really. Those that purchase a Grand Prix now are 95% of the time more than likely poor or don't have a big income. I don't know anyone who says. I'm definetly buying a Grand Prix cause its cooler than a Vette. More than likely its a money issue and that's why they are in a GP to begin with. And if anyone ever *****es about the cost of parts seriously need to look at the cost of GTO parts.

I think most average joes could pick up a GT-R or a nice vette such as the ZR-1 or Zo-6 if that's what they were into and put their mind to it. Its not impossible. Awesome cars all around.

GP's are cheap to mod but its the price of that FWD automatic tranny is whats not worth it to me. Thats why I stopped with my build. But even when you look at prices on mods for the LS engines and newer Mustangs etc, price just doesn't compare to what GP parts cost.

And I would never buy a GTR Id rather have a Shelby or an American car over one of those any day, Im not that concerned about power and speed its still and Import and Im not a huge fan

You'll grow out of that stage when you realize imports are built a lot better than American cars. I thought the same way when I was your age and learned quick just how crappy American cars really are.

Has the price of an oil change for one come down yet?

You'd think that, but you quickly find all of the flaws in the import cars too.

Then you realize that cars are made by people, thus bound to fail sooner or later.
