Hey Matt, On one of your replys to a posts you referred to an oil filter, and called it the "Orange can of death" I think thats what you called it, So whats wrong with the oil filter on the car because I beleave I have the same one on my GTP and I think its a Fram oil filter.

What do you run on your car?

fram are not the best made filter on the market. Just the best marketed filter on the market.

mobil 1 or K&N... Same filter. Just depends on what I can get.

I’m the technical manager for FRAM and I can definitely say our R&D is one of the strongest in the industry. We have six facilities just to support the brand and to continue to enhance and improve our products. FRAM is just as concerned with quality, innovation and improvement as we are getting the word out to the public.

As you all probably know, with our oil filters we have a product line up that meets a number of needs, from basic to 10K filters and for high-mileage cars. Every one has industry leading contaminant and particulate matter-capturing ratios, up to 99% in some models.
The filter on your car has 95% single pass efficiency, something WIX and many others cannot say. What that means is it remove 95% of all dirt in the 10-20 micron size range the first time it goes through the filter. I am not sure what you mean by issue? I am happy to answer any question aboout filters, ours or others to best of my knowledge. If your talking about the fiber end caps, it is really a non issue. We have been making filters that way for 20 years. We make Honda and Subaru OE filters the same way. AC Delco filters now have a felt end cap, even the 345,000 Bentley Arnage has a filter with fiber end caps. Most new cars have cartridge filters with no end caps at all. The issue with end caps exists because WIX has made a industry of telling people our design is not as good as theirs, they use steel end caps and we use fiber. The bottomline is the end cap does nothing but seal the end of the media and the fiber end cap bonds to the fiber media far better than steel ever could. The end cap is not a structural elemnet of the filter. They also go on and on that they have a coil spring and we have a leaf spring inside. I have recently cut open 45 brands of oil filters and 43 had leaf springs and two had coil springs, if they were no good you would not see so many companies using the leaf spring.
