Fog lights don't work

The fog lights on my 98 SE do not work. The bulbs are fine, and the fuses are fine, but they just don't turn on. The next thing I tryed to check is a relay in the under the hood fuse box that is labeled as fog lights, but when I went to auto zone to get a replacement they said that they didn't have any in stock. Is there any way to test this relay without swapping it for a new one?

I'd use a jumper wire to bypass the relay.... this will tell you if the relay itself went bad, or the switch.

If I don't have any jumper wire, would I have to buy some? Or is there an alternative? I have romex...

And it is a four pin relay. Where would I put the wires?

Look in the fuse panel where all the relays are under the hood. There should be another one in there the same as the fog light relay, just match up the numbers. Swap that one with the FG relay and if they work, you know you need another relay. If not, you may need to get another switch.

I am dumb. Yes, I know that the switch is seperate, I just wasn't thinking when I last posted. I guess I need a new switch then. Does anyone know how to get the switch out? Please tell me that I don't have to tear apart the dash.

Yea, you have to pop off that whole trim panel and the switch clips on to the back of it. Try just popping off the driver side of the panel first, you may be able to get it out far enough without pullin the whole thing off.

After I last posted I went out to see if I could figure it out. I got the trim panel off and very quickly found the problem. The switch wasn't plugged in. There were also a few other things that weren't put together correctly, so I'm assuming that someone took it apart to fix something, and they weren't very careful when they put it back together.

Problem fixed. Thanks for your help guys.

It's usually the smallest things and other people negligance that create the biggest problems. Happy to see you got it figured out.

I know this is an old one but I am having a problem with my fog lights. I have a 2000 Grand Prix. The lights worked fine then they stopped. I have checked the bulbs, fuse (under hood), and relay (under hood). I have replaced the switch because the switch I had the indicator light to tell you whether the lights were on or off would not even light up. The new switch I have I had to get from a salvage yard because gm discontinued the switch and you can no longer get a new one. This switch will light to indicate whether the lights should be on or off, but the lights are still not on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
