floating gas guage

My 03 GT has a floating gas guage needle. I fill the tank it will show full, then a quarter, then full, empty, half etc... It just started less than a week ago. Im thinking fuel sending unit, I could change it, but the car has right at 95K miles on it mabeye it would be best to go ahead and change the entire fuel pump. Any thoughts?
 


I was getting ready to change the fuel sending unit and on a whim I changed the fuel filter. As I was changing it I noticed some resistence when I blew air through it. After I installed the new one the needle dosent float any more. I guess sometimes we should check simple things first. And stop using 7-11 and Sams club gas.
 
I dont mean to thread jack but isnt it a blazer sending unit that we install to fix this? ebay? Im fixing this in two weeks. mine is to the point now where I am keeping track of gas quantity with mileage.
