Started the car today and heard this terrible grinding noise coming from the trans and flexplate area inspect it and its the flexplate... smh.. so any ideas on making this the quickest flexplate install I know I have to pull the motor out but can I just pull the motor a few inches up to do it do I have to pull the motor all the way out the bay? Thanks!

would be way faster to drop cradle for that job would suck balls to do try do it with the cradle still in the car. Just my 2 cents. Ive done entire trans swap with a lift in less than 6 hours on a na car.

pretty sure people have just split the motor and tranny in the engine bay, hang the engine with a hoist, support the tranny. split em in the bay, you wont have a ton of room to work in but should be enough.

6 bellhousing, 3 tq converter, 3 intermediate shaft bracket,2 trans mount, and then undo cvs

Ok..

I was gonna try that shouldn't be too bad

^My friend was out of a garage and had his go and the shop didn't pull the engine or trans they did this trick.

You don't have enough room in the bay from everything I've done in there. Maybe if you yank off the motor mount.. you can squeak the motor over 2-3 inches.. but damn that'll be super tight.

Screw the dicking around and no space to work with think you can do the squeeze job in less than 6 hours? I bet you spend half that time pissed off because you have no room to work! Job like that having room makes it all go together quick. If you pay attention very little needs to be disconnected if the cradle is down just enough. Why work on a creeper under the car when you can look at the engine and trans at knee height? Good luck no way in hell id try squeezing a flex out with the cradle still bolted in. By lifting the car over the cradle that trans comes out the drivers wheel well and back in driving out in less than 6 hours, think about it transmission is alot shorter than the engine that cradle doesnt have to be seperated by much.
