Fishing Season 2013

So fishing season has officially begun in Ohio. Went out to Alum Creek here in central Ohio Sunday and while I had no luck myself, I did help fellow angler land this monster off a bobber and worm. Looked it up and seems to have tied the official State record for length (from what I could find)

47" and heavy as hell. I'd say easily 25+lbs. Didn't have a net so had to get in the water and grab it with an old hoodie I had.

Guy caught it off his sons little Walmart style Zebco package deal rod & reel

NO NET? Thats kinda scary being the razor sharp chompas those fish have ......must of been one hell of a fight on what? 8 lb test line lol

Kinda looks like a pike, I snagged a reasonably large pike a few years back at 38 inches, 12 lbs. When we fillet them I find the pike yield on avg 50% of their weight in pure meat (no Y bones or anything)
Nice catch!

Yeah guessing no heavier than 8lb test. Couldn't believe he caught it. And in less than 3 feet of water in a small cove.

Nice muskie! Muskie season is open in Ohio right now? Ours doesn't open till like May 25th although regular fishing season opens the first weekend of May.

A couple years ago my brother got a stocky 42in muskie on 6lb line from a canoe with no net. It was one heck of a fight let me tell you. Took a good 7 minutes before we even caught a glimpse of it. After 15 or so we finally pulled her in the canoe. Sad part about it was the past 4 days we had been hitting that very same bay with our muskie gear with no luck. This was the last day and we just gave up on them. lol. There have been multiple 50in+ muskies caught from that spot. Theres a reason I enjoy fishing for the monsters. lol

I would do just about anything to land myself a Musky. I've caught some exceptional pike, but I want a Musky, bad.

Musky take patience I hear. Love fishing though.... can't wait to whip out the boat and head out on Winnebago to get some perch and walleye.

I spend lots of time on the water in the summer trying for them. Usually with no luck. I do better when I dont fish specifically for them. lol
