first time at the track

local grand prix club held a track meet yesterday. i wasn't prepair to run, my original plan was to meet up with with another mc member he was in town for the gp meet. me and him were making an arrangement to meet up cause i was buying the trunk carpet liner from him. after the pick up he told me about the track and i thought why not i'll give a shot. like i said i wasn't prepair for the track event yet anyway. i went and was running with my street tires and rim "the bullet". i made 3 passes my best was 13.699 @103. i was hoping to hit 12's, but that didn't happen. i had hard time hooking and peeling out alot. my R/T and 60 ft hurt me. oh well now that i had first taste of the track and i think i'm hooked...LOL. i'm going back again this time with SLICK!!!!!

I'd say hold it in 1. That way when you feather the throttle, it won't shift to 2nd to early like if you had left it IN drive...then the second you are able to lay into it without spinning, shift it into drive ;)

Nice times though, and x2 on your mod list!!

I would just leave it in drive. When it's manually in 1st the tranny will short shift into 2nd at about 5,500 RPM's to prevent someone from forgetting it was in 1st and then banging against the rev limiter or over revving the motor.

if you put it back into drive before you wind out first then the pcm will shift at what its set at. he was saying that so if you do have to come off the throttle to stop wheel spin it wont go to second. you just gotta be quick about it.

and rt. dont effect your et. any. just letting you know how much your sleeping when the light goes green :D

IF...you hold it in 1 too long...as long as you put in in Drive or any other forward gear before 3 grand or so it'll still shift at the higher shift point...you just gotta be quick about it ;) I know this because it is my only way of feeling like I have a manual :(

Not a bad first outing man! Like I have always told you, practice practice practice on the launch!!! A 2.35 60' time is killing you all around, you should be able to get some low 1.8 / high 1.7s no problem on slicks and that will easily kill half a second off of your quarter mile time. For the guys that dont know- I built the drivetrain for the car. He has plenty of cool street kill stories as he normally calls me up to tell me what he just killed on the highway lol. The car has 12s in it no problem on a good tire and we need to dial in the tune a bit more as every time I have the car it is only 30-40 deg outside :th_nervous: so it isnt quite where I would like it to be yet! The car also has very heavy wheels on it as they are 18x9s IIRC and are quite a bit heavier than stockers so that isnt helping any. Props again man, keep hitting the track and work on your launch and it will make a huge difference in ET! When we still had the 95 SE I dropped from 13.2 with a 2.0/2.1 60' on street tires down to 12.7s/12.8s with 1.7 60' times on slicks. That car felt amazing off the line when I could stall it up to 3K and go WOT right off the line with no tire spin!
