• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

first day new headers

I got to school, all was well.

After school I hit a speed bump and heard crunch, apparently my downpipe now hits the speed bumps at my school.

I thought nothing, but a few minutes later I turned off my radio and at about 1k-1.5k RPM and only there, it rattles, sounds like something is loose or a constant ticking.

I have no clue what it is. Can anyone give me some ideas?

Could anything be contributed I do not have my rear O2 sensor yet? It is coming in the mail. Causing issues with A/F or anything?

Thanks.

That ticking is probably an exhaust leak now...

Hitting the downpipe probably either caused a crack (possible, but doubt it) or caused a clamp to loosen/slide.

I went over a rail road track on a big hill at about 110, and slammed down, and put a huge ass dent in my SD headers, but they never leaked, before/after.

Jack the car up, and get under it when it's cold (as in not having been driven in 30m) and have someone start it up, and look/feel for an exhaust leak.

But please make damn sure you've got jack stands under it...

So...wait. Your running without a rear o2?

Of course you'll have an exhaust leak theres a huge hole there LOL And no...rear o2 doesn't really effect anything. You should check all the clamps you used and if any are loose remove...reseal with RTV...

So, lets recap, you wonder why theres a ticking noise when theres a large hole in your exhaust? lol

FWIW, My DP never touches any thing and we have speed bumps all overe here. Take them at a normal speed and you wont bang on them

My headers came with a Rear O2 Bung Plug...

I know that sounds wrong..and it makes me laugh...but I hope he's got the rear o2 sealed atm.

Yes, I have no O2 sensor as I ordered it today. And there is a plug in it, a metal screw-like thing.

When it cools down I'll jack it up and inspect/tighten all of the bolts and let y'all know. It isn't as much a ticking as it is the sound of some component being loose.

Removed from the downpipe to where the cat connects to resonator,
removed the little tube used for air injection, welded it shut, tightened bung plug, and reinstalled, made sure all bolts were tight that I loosened for install and the noise is gone ... for now!

Thanks all.
