Firing Up Motor After 7 Months on Jack-Stands

I did see just the pump part, and wires on Amazon for 50. I will look up the TRE pumps.

Checking for power is definitely the next step. Borrowed a FLUKE multimeter from a buddy at work. Watched some videos and read about doing it properly. Itching to get out there and work on it, but I'm gonna have to put it off, again, till tomorrow.

I've had pressure at the shredder valve and it wouldn't start. New fuel filter and pump fixed the problem.

I also went through 3 pumps in a year, zzpoop, aem, and an ac delco pump. All **** the bed. Went with a Delphi drop in assembly, per recommendation of a close friend and mechanic, and haven't had a problem since. Also stopped going to the ****ty gas station up the street.

Delphi, eyh? I'll look into it. I do remember seeing a Delphi assembly on RockAuto. Priced about 160 as well. Thanks man. Got some options to consider now.

Did some testing with the multimeter. No power at the pump.

12v at alternator = check

12v @ fuel pump power wire going from alternator to rear connectors = check

12v @ gray wire from rear connectors to pump connector = Nope

So somewhere in those rear connections, the red power wire direct from the alternator, isn't talking to the factory gray wire. Ran out of time though. Will be back. Had to take out the fuel pump of course. Needed that visual confirmation. Lol. Rusted c-clip gave me the flux. Then the o-ring didn't want to seat correctly when reinstalling. Ended up leaving it off. Jeeze. What a pain.

you need a helper, when you turn the key theres only power sent to the pump for a few seconds, then it turns off. this primes the engine, it wont have power again till it fires up.

so be ready with the tester, and have someone turn the key for ya to run, not crank.

I had my old man helping me out on this one. He's a classic Mr. Fix it. Just saying that to say I trust the results. I was cranking and he was watching the meter. No voltage when cranking.

You can hear the relay clicking. So that's good. Forgot to mention that....

When you turn the key to on, the fp gets 1 second of power to prime the injectors and cylinders. Then no more power until engine fires up. Just clarifying what Scott was mentioning.

For sure. I understand what you guys are saying. In that second or two the meter should show 12v running through the grey wire. I don't hear the pump priming, and in those fleeting seconds, the power wire isn't showing 12v. We cranked maybe 3 times. It's only when cranking that I expected to see a blip of 12v on the screen. That didn't happen.

Everything I've read tells me the grey wire is the power wire at the fuel pump. Bill, or Scott.... can someone confirm this off the top of their head?

Well. At the car now. Looks like an amateurs mistake here. Gulpp. Red is power and gray is power. Classic switcharoo. Hopefully she fires up after I fix this. I'll let ya know
