Finally Got Some .22 Ammo

SubwayGuy

Who is this guy?
There was a new Cabela's that opened recently. I didn't go to the grand opening as it was going to be packed and I don't like people that much lol. Anyway, I knew there would be fully stocked ammo on the shelves so I knew there would be some .22 ammo. I didn't end up going until like 4 days after the grand opening and they still had some! .22 ammo and I think 9mm are pretty scarce these days so I was happy to find some. There was actually quite a bit left still, but I only got $20 worth because that's all I wanted to spend. The ammo shortages are ridiculous these days, but I think it's slowly coming back.

There is a .22 shortage in the US? I can walk through any walmart/cabellas/basspro/canadian tire/gun store and find hundreds of boxes of .22 and 9mm.

Not true for everyone - if and when they have it , it's $5 or more for 50rds

ill always chase a deal if I can get 500rds for $25-30 or $2 for the 50ct. But it's rare and usually limited to 2 per person

There was a shortage here in the states because everyone and their brother was buying it all up. As a competitive shooter, Silhouette and .22 benchrest competitions , I had to drop out of benchrest because I couldnt' find Club Extra which my rifle will shoot 5/16" groups at 50 yards. I still shoot Silhouette as most of the decent Standard Velocity I can still find at Walmart when I show up on the day it's delivered. I use Federal Automatch and Winchester M-22 and if needed Aguila SE. We have an informal competition every 3rd Saturday and we shoot 40,50,75 and 100M for Chicken,Pig, Turkey and Ram they are 3/4 scale NRA targets. It's a lot of fun. I usually shoot my modified Ruger 10-22 or my Ruger KMK512 in SST both are modified to the hilt. If I'm in the mood I'll shoot my Canik T120 (think Baby Eagle). That's my other passion is gunsmithing and shooting, anything mechanical or electrical basically. I am finding a lot of the Federal Automatch at Carters Country. I pick up a 325 box when we go shoot trap or any of the other guns.

Ammo should be about .05 a round, if you pay more then you are buying premium (eley/Wolf) or they are charging too damn much.

There was a 9mm shortage awhile back, but I can go anywhere and buy boxes of it. Hell there is a local gun shop basically right across from my house I can go to get some if I need it quick. LOL

Yes the only thing that's even not always on the shelf now is .22LR, I also have a hard time getting 147 gr 9mm, have to go to the gun shop th gat any of those. Also have trouble with 68gr 5.56 .62-.45 all day long, but good 68 gr in .223 or 5.56 is hard to find.

Then you are very lucky in my opinion. My Wal-Mart, Dick's, Gander Mtn., etc. are wiped clean. That Cabela's will be too in a couple a days.

I have just over 400 rounds at the moment. Over 1000 and I will be satisfied lol. I waited outside for maybe 30 minutes at Gander Mtn. before it opened to grab 2 525 boxes of Remington Golden Bullet's for $20 each. Those rounds are gone. 9mm is much more expensive, like 2x as much, than .22 ammo by me. Not sure about other places though.

I just looked at ammo.net and I was surprised to find a lot of .22 ammo in stock. Most sites I found online were all out of stock or back ordered. But $75 for 500 rounds? Seems high considering you still have to include shipping, but at least now I know I can get some if I really need.

Never really was a major shortage.... people just didn't want to pay the price scalpers were selling them for. You can literally pick up .22 ammo any day of the week for $0.14 cents a shot.... but do you want to spend $14 dollars on 100 rounds?

That does seem high.....last order I made was for 500 rounds of 556 before that scare happened.

Nope because I paid $10 for 100 rounds lol.

For the longest time crazyguy03, In your gif, I thought you had the 5.3L Nothstar swapped in, then I saw TB after it and I looked at the pics ect. Lol I was like, damn he swapped in a V8 in there? That'd be cool if someone did that.

Haha - yeah I should. I think I would be the first v8 swapped 97-04 regal

I can go to any store around here and buy 500 rounds of .22 for roughly 20-25$, or 50 for 2-2.50$. Why's it cheaper here in cannuck's land?
