• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Figured I'd Write A Slightly More Formal 'Adios'

Figured I'd write a little bit more formal adios to the GP Community seeing as I still have quite a few people coming to me on the messengers and such that are absolutely surprised when they ask me if I've seen a certain post, and I tell them no because I'm not a part of the community any longer.

Anyways, yeah. I'm not going to be here, ClubGP, 3800Pro, or anywhere anymore since I no longer wish to be, and feel no need to be. The majority of the Grand Prix crowd I've known since seven years ago has already moved on by now as they too no longer wish to be apart of the community and move on to other things.

Of-course I know there are still plenty of GP 'veterans' around that know what they're doing, but as these cars keep getting cheaper and cheaper they too are getting drowned out by the overwhelming amount of stupidity flooding the forums that insist they indeed are the ones that are correct and have no real interest to learn otherwise.

No, I will not help you diagnose the problem your having with your aftermarket sound system so that you can go force everyone else to listen to your music and your rattly ass trunk. No, I will not inform you whether or not you can run 32"s on your Grand Prix without rubbing. I also won't even help you when you ask if your strobing red or blue neon lights are illegal in your state. Oh, and surprise surprise, you probably wouldn't like my reply if I did give you one anyways.

I joined this site a little over a year ago when it first started, member number seven to be exact. Thinking that this place was going to continue progressing and bettering itself with each new day. Well, wrong again. Suuuure... we have 3,000 something members now one year later which is quite impressive, but what do we have to show for it? Not a lot, that's what. Same generic 'copy and paste' layout that vBulletin provides for all of their customers and a couple of advertisements helping clutter up the page from companies that have little too nothing to do with Grand Prix's. (Excluding a obvious few) Nothing catchy, nothing important, nothing to actually keep the three thousand people that have signed up coming back to the site over and over again.

Sure, I understand some of these things cost money. Like a custom layout for one, but there is no excuse for it when you have members, I for one, offering this done for free pending approval, but it seems as if everyone is too busy to send a message out to the others and see if they are willing to receive free work.

All and all I'm happy to of been a part of the Grand Prix community for seven something years, although the majority of the people in the GP Community have no idea what they're doing, but if I hadn't had either of the GTP's I wouldn't of met Bobby (TubbedGTP), Jeff (JEFFSGTP), Shawn (Iron Indian), Tom (sra_chipmunk), the others I've met personally, and the ones that I only know quite well on the interweb.

Also, just for the record, despite the fact that I have no idea how many of you will get to read this since I also have no clue if this post will just get moved, deleted, or not... I still have my car, and will probably keep my car despite leaving the community altogether.

Later-

later man... youve helped me with a bunch of thiings with my car on the forum. just know one gtp wont wind up as a cheap piece of **** at least. have fun man, and good luck to you.

Or you could just ignore the recurring threads and pm's, go to the posts you want. Its important to keep members like you around because sometimes there is a lot of bs being read by new members, broke college students like myself. It's hard to prove something is wrong or not the best route when you have no support and they won't listen to the facts at hand, instead listening to rumors. One thing I hate most is new young members who are not used to being in a public forum and take everything to heart, they argue with you for giving them a suggestion or opinion, or they think they are always right and love to express that.

Happy trails either way you go!

Well Street I am pretty new and have found you to be a pretty awesome guy. I wish you the best of luck and sorry we couldn't keep you :( There are some things on this forum that bug me quite a bit but I stick around for the people even though there aren't that many "active" users. I know what you mean about nothing keeping the people here because I actually did find a local Canadian club with only 45 members but they are all active and on all the time (I was number 22). But I can't say how long I am going to be here if people keep going to that one...

But chances are you aren't going to see this but if you do have fun with it buddy, don't let a bunch of stupid people get to you. Peace out :th_winking:

well thats to bad. I always listened to streetwolf's facts, I found him to be one of the handful of members on here that actually know what hes talking about. I don't even know why im replying to this, he probably isn't going to read it. Later street.
P.S- if you do read this, don't stop making videos of your car.

That is exactly why we need you around here. Look on the bright side of things. You don't have to live on this forum, but I think that overall this is the best Grand Prix forum on the net, and I think that there are more here that dislike neon lights than you may think. As far as the layout, get over it. This site really does not make anyone money, and was never intended too.

what happend to the asshole i used to know??? the man that argued with me for over 2 weeks strait about a damn honda?? your just gonna walk out because of some stupidity??? you gonna let them get to you like that???

i know what you mean, but hell, whos gonna keep them in check???? someone has to do it....

Well, I think STREET was very polite about everything, all things considered...I will be here for now, and guess I will see where the future of the site takes me!

Street, I am going to hate to see you go. Your full of knowledge and a great person to talk to. Didn't take crap from anyone. Allowed us to go on those awsome adventures with yourself and Jeff without leaving the living room. Your gonna be missed man. Stay in touch, you have the info.

I know how you feel. It seems no matter what kind of enthusiast forum you join, over time the community goes from its roots to...something like this. I have seen it myself, in about the same time frame you have, elsewhere. Give it some time, and you might find yourself just perusing the forums, dropping little help where you feel the need. A lot of folks burn out when they are the knowledgeable ones on a forum, and it looks like that is where you are at now. Take a breather for awhile, and hopefully we will see you again sometime.

Happy Trails man! I know exactly where you are coming from and you just reach a point when you are done and also agree that there has been a lot change over the recent years and a good chunk of the original crowd has departed also which is fine, everyone has their own thing or just move on. The popular body style, 97-03, has been gone for 6 years now so these cars have definately aged and been handed down and I see more and more where guys that bought their brand new 97-98-99 GTP to keep forever are now putting them up for sale and dont really want to have anything to do with them anymore and also moving on. Again, more power to you to go your own route and do your own thing, thats what I have always done though I have been in this community since around 02ish and never even owned a 97-03! My wife bought a 95 SE back in mid 99 so that was our play toy since I L67 swapped it in early 03 but I only really gained interest after a good friend of mine bought his near new 00 GTP in 01 and I saw the potential of the engine and trans. Back then things were night and day different and Thrasher and Grand Prix Store were the big companies lol. I have always had a soft spot for these cars regardless and still need to get one-more for testing than anything but have always loved the body style and it isnt something that is going to fall of the map any time soon as they did a great job on the style and it has certainly stood the test of time. Anyways fairwell and best wishes
