Fig Grilles vs. OEM? (pics)

So, I just ordered some Fig grilles in the gloss black powdercoat. At first they seemed pretty nice. On the descriptions of them they always say they fit like OEM. I didn't go through with the entire install, but I put them up to my car and they didn't seem to fit all that great and they showed a bit of the bent metal, and they show the white behind the grilles, etc. Every pic I've ever seen of them looks really good. Did I do something wrong?

-PICS- (since it's dark behind them, some of the details don't show)
Both Figs:

personally im going to paint my stockers, they fit better and IMO look better because of the fit.
Non stock ones ive seen are just bent metal, any monkey can bend some metal, and maybe you might get ones taht dont fit proper..

i put stock ones back on my car after having those FIG grills because they went with my black theme better and they fit the car...like stock grills.

Yeah, I don't know what to think... at this point I think I'd definitely rather leave my stock grilles in. Do the Street Scene grilles fit any better?

thoes fig grills wouldnt look so bad if you paint the tabs behind them black to that you dont see the bumper protruding into the grille space. thats why the OEM's look better, they cover that up. oh yeah and fit.

If only I had a cnc shop...

I mean, it wouldn't be THAT hard to make something that looked good, right? I mean, if it just had those three insert things on top and screw holes in the bottom to fit in like the OEM grilles... then have a little ring piece thing around it to cover up that lip and define the shape. Then since it would have an exact position as to where it would fit EVERY TIME, unlike the ziptie install, you could make the perforation exact and even on each side. Plus it would be a way easier install. Two screws per grille and you're done.

Why doesn't anyone sell something like that? Maybe the quality I'm looking for just doesn't exist...

has anyone tried taking that fake chrome trime on a roll crap and wrap thier stockers? i thought of it alst night but figured it would look dumb, but there has to have been soeone wlse who doesnt and did it lol

i want GPO grilles in the worst way. with a nice GTP grille badge ;) im obsessed with that i still have to get my hands on another GT's door badge so i can do it on the new GTP. did it on the old one and i loved it

Huh. I've been looking at those GPO grilles... I can only find a few pics of them. Are they hard to get ahold of or something?

If it's what I'm thinking of, only WBS has them or order them from GrillFx. The guy who makes them just did a run, expecting to get mine sometime next week. I'm going with a honeycomb grill powdercoated in black behind them. Using the same stuff they use for computer fan grills, hoping it has some strength to it.

I'm gonna grab this from the other forum...
