Fender Flare

walkure

New member
I was just thinking, would it be possible to evenly flare out our fenders to match the flare at the top? This would make wider wheels fit a lot nicer if the are close to even at the top. My idea came from the fenders on a G8. Yes I have looked at the Flare kit at MPD Performance but there has to be more options than that. Theoretically money is not a issue so think big.

I was thinking more for it to cover the lower half of the tire so our cars look less like a jeep when we put on wider tires. Roll the fendes as well to gain clearance.

is what I'm talking about reducing by either adding to or remolding the fender

If i was worried about wheel gap or rolling/pulling fenders to get wheels to fit then this would be in a different section.

You said fenders, so I think rims and lowering when it comes to that.

Not about the rear bumper design.

In that pic he is running like a 265 or 275 tire, tho a even a 225 sticks out just a smidge.

To me its not even worth it to try and re-shape that. But do as you wish.

With the roads I drive there is enough of the stock tires sticking out the do some damage. If I move to a different offset and/or wider tire I could be throwing rocks all the way up to the taillight. from only one winter I am down to the bare plastic on the underside of the bumper. I only want to get ideas even though it may not seem practical. Bumper fender its all the same since the mid 70's (cue endura bumper) but maybe I should have been more specific.

I have a set of the same ones that came on my dads car, just need to mount them. I didn't know how well they would work.

if you take out the rear fender liner that goes to the rear bumper and make it wider then you could make the sides of the rear bumper flare out more and "hide" the part of the tires you have highlighted with the red triangle

They are rubber and say grand prix on the back, you cant see the grand prix anymore the silver cover is gone. I got them with the car.

Not everyone will like the looks of a mud flap though.
those are probably the nicest taillights i have seen that are oem. i cant see 1 sign of them seperating or being ruined

^ this, there is a metal bracket that holds the bumper in somewhat, well, from what i noticed with mine, find the metal piece and push/pull it out, it helped with mine, on my 98, it looked like the mechanic was leaning on it and it bent in, it looked funny to me so i investigated and pulled it back out to look proper HTH
