Factory turbo trans am!!!

Same engine pulled from the GNX's of that year range, just the F-bodys were slightly lighter so it was a little quicker. Looks good but I couldn't justify $35k for a v-6 Firebird, rare or not... Just IMO

BTW if someone could get me the VIN# to the car, Id love to look in my GM electronic catalog and see if it is truely factory turbo'd like they claim.

I used to like those cars. Now I think they are savagely ugly though, just like its Buick GN cousin.

301 pontiac. :th_thumbsup-wink:

Also the smokey and bandit car.

The original "Smokey and the Bandit" car was NOT a turbo car. It had a 6.6 liter (400c.i.d.) V8 rated at 200hp.

HOWEVER, the Trans Am used in "Smokey and the Bandit II" was a 1980 Turbo Trans Am, which had the Turbo 4.9 liter (301c.i.d.) V8, which was rated at 210hp.

HO enterprises worked with pontiac back in early 80s to make a supercharged V8 kit available through a certain dealership. i think 3 were made

The 20th anniversary 3.8 turbos are indeed rare. I believe 1500 were made.

The first time I saw one was at PRP (Pittsburgh Raceway Park). I was dumbfounded and a little confused.

The next day my cousin's husband John (who likes F bodies) as well as my dad was at my house and I told them about this 3.8 turbo Firebird I saw. They both told me I was full of sh!t until I looked it up for them.

I'm a car guy, my dad's a car guy, and John is a F Body guy and until that point not one of us had ever heard of it.

As for the other turbo trans am, they were made in 80 and 81 and didn't really do that hot.
