Factory Remote Stopped Working

I've had my '07 GP for a couple of years now and just recently my factory remote starter quit working. I'm assuming it's a factory unit because it works off my Pontiac key fob. Several weeks ago I bought new tires & wheels for my car and had to reset the tire pressure function on my dashboard computer. Could that have had anything to do with screwing up the remote starter?

Also, I recently replaced the battery and that black rubber function pad in my key fob. Could that have caused a problem with the remote starter? I haven't been paying too much attention to it for quite awhile, but now that the temps are back down in single digits, it's something I'd sure like to get working again, if possible. Any help would really be appreciated.
 


Probably. Just take it to the dealership and see if they can reprogram it to your car. If not the fob could be bad and you can get another off eBay.
 
Is your check engine light on? if it is on for ANY reason at all it will disable the remote starting as a safety/money making feature.

If thats not the case open the remote back up and check the soldering holding the battery clip on the circuit board...they tend to crack over time and I have fixed about ten of these already.
 
My wife has a 2007 Chevy Malibu Maxx and it has a remote start on it. As stated above her check engine light came on and it disabled the remote start feature. Also last year the remote start feature had stopped working(actually the whole remote stopped working) and we took it to a GM dealership. They said that sometime in the past her keys had been dropped and it broke a small clip inside. Its probably what was referred to above. Anyways they said it couldnt be fixed so we purchased a new key remote thing for her.
