Definitely go with a double din a/v capable unit. Never had experience with jvc before I'm more on a Pioneer fan myself.
 
Nope wasn't impressed I tried it out and just hated it.. Relied to much on your phone and the lack of USB/sd etc was a big downgrade as far as I'm concerned. Plus the billion cable you need just adds to the frustration and app radio isn't anything worth having at this point in time.
 


Nope replies on your phone solo. So guess what if you ever get into a situation where your without a phone that radio does nothing for you. Well except you can listen to the radio. It just seemed like it was very cheap.. Hell go to your local best buy I'm pretty sure they have them out there to display and you'll probably see what I mean. How much are you looking to spend on one? Are you partial to get something used?

Hate to go above $500, hate to buy a used Head unit used, i would buy an amp used.
 
Nothing wrong with a used headunit if it's been taken care of and not abused hell I could show you my headunit and you wouldn't even believe it was used and saved you a bunch of money for $250 ish you can get a very nice used pioneer headunit and then still have money to spare.
 


And let's be honest your going to need the harness, steering wheel module etc. so $500 can go quick.. Used may be a good idea

The basic Pioneer head unit is great. Couple it with a fairly decent amp and speakers, and you'll be loving the sounds.

That said, AppRadio is a crap shoot. You can find discussions on this and almost all of the Pioneer double din head units here.

If your budget is only $500 or so, ebay is your friend. Just remember that if you want steering wheel controls integration, there's an adapter for that. If you want to retain your chimes, there's an adapter for that. If for no other reason, consider the CANBUS adapter because it'll make wiring for power and speakers so much easier. There'd be no hacking into the factory wires and you won't have to worry about your car's body control module freaking out when it can't find the radio.

Also know that you'll lose the clock function of the DIC once you replace the factory radio.
