Factory boost gauge question (98GTP)

Hi, I am new to the GP GTP. I previously had a 98 Regal GS and it had the factory digital boost gauge. While stock, I remember boost topping out at around 8.5 PSI. Then I quickly modded the car so I don't remember how fast it was in stock form. My question is, with the GTP factory boost gauge, how far should the boost gauge "fill out"? Mine gets up to about half full at the most and the car is basically stock other than 104 plugs, wires and 180* tstat. The car feels kinda slow so I'm just wondering if I have a boost issue, or I'm just used to the way my regal was modded and I've had an LS1 Trans Am, a Vortech S-charged Roush Mustang. I plan to modify the car as I did the Regal and want to address any issues before doing so. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

Ok, after troubleshooting, I found on the sensor that the bbv goes into, the bottom vacuum inlet was not hooked up to anything. So, I capped it off. Test drove. 4 bars of boost. I then capped off the lines from the bbv to the sensor. Test drive, one bar shy of full boost! Woohoo! I'm satisfied but am wondering where the other end to the bottom vacuum inlet goes. Anyone know? I don't want any vacuum leaks and I'm sure it has to have a destination. haha!

dont rely on that boost gauge for anything. it is neither accurate or useful. get a real boost gauge.

if your vacuum line is just hanging there and not capped off then you have a GIANT vacuum leak. you are in turn running your car lean and potentially doing motor damage. either get a new BBV solenoid or remove it from the system completely and end your vacuum line at the FPR.

I already had all the vacuum lines capped that run to and from the bbv. I just wasn't sure where the line went to that comes out or to the bottom of that sensor. That would be the only vacuum leak that there is. You say it runs to the FPR? I will chase it down and see. I just bought this car so I'm trying to fix anything wrong with it. I ordered a boost gauge yesterday but I knew it wasn't making normal boost because it was a turd. I'm also aware that little bars are not accurate. haha! Anyways thanks for the input! Greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Joel
