F body brake swap

Just a word of advice for ya.....Don't expect a GM Dealership to really help you like this. They don't want to be held liable for any damage caused by selling you different parts that aren't designed to fit your vehicle. Sounds dumb to some people, but we can't just come out and say that we will sell you F-Body brakes for your Grand Prix.

The sales man has to protect themselves for sure. Gets really fun and interesting when you go get replacement pads, and have to say '98 Chevy Camaro front pads, and '97 Pontiac Grand Prix Rear. They usually don't ask or question that request, but if they do, they say something like, "When did you get a Camaro?" or "You working on your car and a buddy's car?" :th_scratchhead:

Then I'll go show them in the parking lot. ;)

Bringing back an old thread.

I've been going through many of the old threads and this seems to be the best one for info, so im bumping it and posing a question.

When swapping the calipers, do you reuse the GP's break line and bolts or the F-body's?

Are you going to use the rotors from the F-Body or is there a different set of rotors you should order?

You can re use the stock brake line. There is enough room for it to reach the new caliper just fine. The banjo bolts will need to be replaced with the correct bolts. You will need F-Body rotors. Any 98-02 transam, Firebird,Camaro ect. You can also use the rotors from an impalla. But they are the same rotor and I have never seen them priced differently so it really does not matter.

You will need the banjo bolts from the camaro. Which are a M10X1.0 Banjo bolt.

Not at all.

If you need anything else let me know.

i saved the banjo bolts when i took them off the f body, but i was thinking of using new brass washers, good idea? or will the old ones work just fine? anyone know where i can get a pair of braided stainless steel lines for my swap? just figured i'd upgrade while i had the system open.

If you have access to new washers, use them.

Also the major aftermarket suppliers have SS braided hoses. Just choose your favorite one and you are set.

cool, thanks! i wasn't sure if i should, but i'm sure it's cheap enough and wouldn't be the worst of ideas.
