• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

F.A.Q's

I know there are a few stickied threads out there that are there to help new and current members alike. We have the "Helpful Threads" for new members, "Safely Modding 3800 Powered Car" and so on and so forth.

Well I was thinking, as helpful as these threads are, why not have something like a FAQ? It can be an FAQ pertaining to everything on the website, or each board/forum can have it's own FAQ. I know it'll require a little more work (Actually, probably a ****-ton) but I am pretty sure there are people willing to help, and in the end it can greatly be a benefit to new and current members alike.

Also, the FAQ button near the top doesn't work, all it does it redirect you to the main page.

I agree but just a link that has all the stickies in one spot. I think thats what ^hes^ saying because everything else on the site is pretty straight forward.

I was just thinking about something like this after thinking about all the people who go through the hasel of joining to ask one question and annoy most of the people on here because they answer the same question every other day to some 1 day member.
The problem I see with what I stated above is one those 1 time users are just wasting server space with there info and threads they make that are the same as 100 others. Two it's upsetting some people who answer and troubleshoot problems well, which makes them less likely to help someone out with a more difficult problem.
Three why it's extremly helpful to have someone else define the problem for you..., you can only learn so much if you insist on having somone hold your hand through an oil change...

What I suggest is like a Troubleshooting / F.A.Q section with basic stuff listed by symptoms, and the top questions that we get asked. Put it where it can be easily seen and have a link to it popup before you can register, maybe have a window that says "looking for an answer to a common problem" or somthing like that I don't know. Also have a link to the "how to safetly mod your 3800".

I know I've asked a ton of common questions and newb questions and just plane dum questions, but belive it or not I visited this site often for like 6 months before I even became a member because all of the basic information I needed was there and easily reachable.

So theres my Idea... not the greatest but I figure it's better than telling new members in the introduction section to F**k off! because they asked a question in the wrong section or etc.

No matter what people are goiing to join and ask questions wihtout even looking at stuff. Its the nature of the beast. Luckily for the most part people are nice and just point them to the other threads anyways. I dont know how many times people have been told to look at the safely moding thread and said they have. Then ask a question that is clearly answered in said thread. Its part of the forums IMO
