Ext. Lower door moulding

Hello all, I have an 03 GP GT sedan and the lower moulding peice on the passenger front door has come off. I am curious on how it is attached to the door. I see the adhesive that goes around the whole plastic peice but on the door there is what appears to be a metal strip with 5 white plastic clips atrached to it. The white clips don't appear to clip into the trim peice, how would I go about reattached it? Just use double sided adhesive?

I have an '01 Grand Prix GTP SE so I'm not sure it's the same but on mine, there's a metal strip that runs the length of the door with a slight, upward lip of maybe 3/16" that the bottom of the trim sits in. Mine is mostly intact and the tape is holding at the top, but the lip is starting to rust so I have to tuck mine in every month or so. I'll end up addressing it at some point but for now I just tuck it in and hope it lasts until I'm brave enough to pull the whole piece of trim off and figure out how to fashion a replacement metal strip. The first link below shows a wildly out of scale image of the metal piece which came with the body moulding.
You, like me, will likely need to break out the tin-smithing tools to fashion a new one.

Cool. Just tuck the bottom edge of the moulding into the lip and use double-sided body tape to attach the top edge.
All done! :)
