exhaust

What up guys? I know that this question has been asked and I have used the search as well. I have a 04 GP GT and was want to put an exhaust system on it. I have been to pfyc.com and a few other sites and looked at the systems and they want a some money for them. Could I just replace the mufflers with out a problem or would it be better to get a cat back exhaust. There seem to be a lot of options out there. I just want a good one for the money. I am not looking for a lot of performance gains, just to add some sound to my car.

Ok so that is good I can go the route on just replaceing the the mufflers. So what would be a good brand to go with that will give a good sound?

It all depends. I beleive it was the dyno max turbo mufflers that brian (reptile) has that sound pretty good?

i like my stock mufflers, but i am coming from flowmasters...or dronemasters...or raspmasters.

i think borla sound the best, but id much rather hear no exhaust noise and just whine. sleeper until i get into the throttle, then they know what's up.

That doesn't sound bad at all. With the header if I went that route and kept the stock exhause would they have more sound than they do now.

they should, only reason i said i would have done it differently is because im getting a top swap. If you go the header route you would need smaller primaries due to being a N/A car. Your car would drive differently, it would feel like a dog up until WOT. Best money spent if your staying N.A would be a Plog from zzp, and If you like the SLP's they're a straight foward install and your better off getting them from here: INTENSE-Racing.com: SLP "PowerFlo" Stainless Steel Exhaust System, 1997-2007 Grand Prix

p.s a pcm flash would wake up your car alot.

wow and i was thinking of buying those slp's from pyfc.com, you saved me $50 lol thanks, btw what was the shippin on it?

real simple rules of exhaust on our cars (especially on NA cars):
1. remove U-bend
2. change mufflers if you want gruff--flowmasters though they will drone. borla and magnaflow mufflers are prestine choice. i know personally i went from flowmasters to borlas and actually gained 10 at the wheels but i also at the time had a major na build. its really up to you but no need like mentioned prior to go big in diameter till ~350WHP. any exhaust shop worth their weight in salt can make a nice exhaust for a fraction of the price of a bolt in kit. just not worth it.

that is about it.

For now just some basic supporting mods and then some

-Wizard cold air intake w. Aem dry flow filter
-180* T-stat
-zzp downpipe w. magnaflow cat
-overkill pcm flash
-intense shift kit
-intense poly motor mounts
-ssc lowering springs, kyb Gr2 struts, zzp ceramic coated Plog (not installed yet)
-F-body calipers in front w. power slot rotors front and rear
-HID headlight bulbs, blazertech fog lights
-oil pressure, a.f gauge, and aeroforce interceptor gauge to scan for KR

Does anyone know if you can install the GT or GTP dual setup on an SE? without going from the cat back?:th_nervous: if so I would like to do so but eliminate the mufflers and pop in some magnaflows:th_nanana: and yank out the cat, replace w/a resonator ,and whatever else I may run into :confused:if no one knows I guess I will find out on my own this weekend and I will be sure to post a How-To on it....:th_mechanic:

i realize that, but you cant just say that the car wont make more power with headers because it will. i just think that these motors make such an excessive amount of torque that everyone can stand to lose a little bit of it down low.

What i meant was, is that being mostly stock N.A you wouldnt want to put 1- 3/4" primaries on it.
