Exhaust?????????

I already have headers and down pipe ready to go and be put on... But the question is what kind of cat back system would you prefer or recommend? I want a nice low sound without to much drone which may be impossible since it will have headers on it but just curious to see what everyone thinks... I have a buddy who has only a cat back corsa system on his GP and it sounds real nice and what I'm leaning towards

I like borla too but I had a ws6 with corsa and it sounded real mean I'm just not sure if I'm gonna get a similar sound or not like said it sounds nice on my buddies GP but he doesn't have headers or the down pipe so the question to that is how will those two things affect the sound?

Stock catback.

Whatever mufflers/tips you want.

Personal preference...but these motors don't sound very good. So, quiet is key. Big resonator, non-chambered mufflers.

I think I'm gonna try just mufflers.. I already don't have a resonator so that may give me what I'm looking for

3" exhaust is required because..............................................?

The OP questioned what we would SUGGEST OR RECOMMEND for an exhaust, not ask what was REQUIRED to meet specific mods! The 3" exhaust would meet any and all mods that may or may not be installed now or in the future up to and including a turbo set (with modification then).

An opinion... It's mine and I'm entitled to it, just as you are yours :D lol...
(No disrespect intended)
Personally, I don't normally respond to posts commenting on post's by others towards posts posted!
(But I've made an exception here).

And yes, I'm aware the STOCK exhaust is good up to mid/high 300's HP, but overall the only potential loss is some torque on the low rpm end and with these high torque motors is that really such a bad thing unless you just like to spin tires?

Backpressure is a myth,

look into exhaust scavaging.

Larger sized piping doesn't do squat but make the car louder, honestly. Especially at a stock mod level. It might benefit someone running a heads/cam car with a ignorantly small pulley.

Headers come WITH the downpipe...it replaces everything from the motor down to the catback. As for the resonator, get one. These cars NEED a resonator. Without one, they sound crappy. Unless of course you've got a turbo or a huge cam to mask it. Like so: GTP Big Cam Idle/Rev - YouTube

$30~ glasspacks work just fine from your local autoparts store.

The restriction is in the manifolds and downpipe/u-bend. Address that for performance...mufflers/resonator for sound. I'd at the very LEAST delete the u-bend and cat to get rid of the real problems...the bottleneck at the u-bend and the chance of the cat clogging (which they are common issues on these cars)...so you get a little throatier exhaust from that alone...and pick up a little power...plus it's cheap.

Thanks blueguy!!!!! That was real helpful and made great sense I think I just gonna throw mufflers on it to see what I get from that. I'm not very heavily modded yet but I got a pulley a tune and intake that I think I might go back to stock intake. But I guess we will see what's in store. Thanks again for all the input
