exhaust smell

here recently i been smelling my car's fumes stronger than usual,like when i crank it with a window down before i take off i smell it and when the heat is on i smell it ,what could it be,ive got a 03 se with the 3.1:confused:
 


It smell like you might have an exhaust leak somewhere. Start by checkin the EGR valve pipe and connections, then work you way back. You stated you smell when the heater is "on", is that in "recirculate" mode also?
Do you hear any "ticking" sounds under acceleration?
 
I have the same thing when my heat is on. im getting my exhaust done today, and i hope it goes away. My EGR doesnt leak, so what else could it be?
 
Just got my exhaust done and there is no smell of any fumes. none comming from the vents either. now my EGR does have a code. P0401. should i chang the EGR valve bc iv tried to clean it and it doesnt work.
 
this morning i didnt smell a smell,its like it comes and goes,i havent had time to check it but i am soon and ill post
