exhaust question

i am trying to decide witch route to go front and rear power logs with a down pipe or headers. i know headers will give me more but is it worth what slp wants for their system and what kinda gaines am i lookin at.i now there is cheaper stuff out there as far as headers but i need your guys input before i make up my mind

how fast do you want to go. if you want to touch 12s you dont need headers. if you want consistent mid 12s or lower then youre going to want headers.

Never hurts to have headers anyway...and the best combo's go as this...or how I like to think it goes...

For Small Bolt-On Cars: 3" Catted Downpipe, Stock Catback
For Mildly Modded to Extensively Modded: Powerlog Front Manifold, 3" Catless Downpipe, Stock Catback or something of your choosing (stock catback is good for 350WHP)
For Crazy Modded: Catless Headers and a Custom Exhaust System

I think P-logs are a waste unless you're planning on going with a Turbo in the future, get headers and don't look back.....

i installed headers after my intake and LOVED it. may not be nessiery by some peoples standerds but it deff picked up some power.

Headers just aren't necessary in some situations. QwikGT put down nearly 300WHP on a Plog and 2.5" DP setup.

Plog and a 2.5 DP will hold you back alot when you start making some power. Hell i'd bet the same car with good headers and a 3" DP would pick up some power verses the P-log setup. Not a whole hell of a lot, but i'd bet there would be a gain.

Comparing the prices of getting the Plog and getting your rear manifold reworked plus adding a DP, buy the time you spend all the money, your in header prices and it makes no since to go this route....... unless you're planning on going turbo later on. You're not really saving much if any headaches? Worse case senerio, welding a DP later at an exhaust shop and bending a dipstick tube, otherwise its all good and simple.

You're not really saving that much money either. So why not do it right the first time? Just my opinion, thats all.......

if i were to build a car all over again i would do a plog, 3" downpipe, and a cam.

it would be torquey like mad since it would have manifolds on it still and it would have a ton of power from the cam that i choose. with a little bit of meth and a good tune i bet that car would run 12s.
