Exhaust Question LS4

I was talking to a buddy of mine over the weekend, he has at charger SRT8 and went to a local exhaust shop and had his stock mufflers cut out and replaced with pipping as their stock exhaust is 3''. I was thinking of having the mufflers on my car cut out and replaced with piping as well. Anyone know how this would sound or if there would be horrible drone in DOD like ive been reading about when u replace the exhaust with a catback and dont have DOD tuned out.

YouTube man there is more than enough sound clips with dod on and non dod clips fwiw dod makes your car sound like a helicopter people don't know what to think usually lol
 
Yeah I tried that for about a month and couldn't stand it. If anything put some mufflers on it and remove the resonator or just remove the resonator and leave the stock mufflers.
 


No DIFFERNECE atleast in mine sense my resonator was screwed from the beginning now I'm getting a baffle sound outta it when I'm at high rpms

with stock mufflers and the resonator removed, you will notice a slight difference. Almost as if you had a mild muffler like flowmasters. If you have flowmasters or magnaflows and you remove the resonator, you will definitely get a louder growl. I only had the mufflers removed so I personally cannot tell you what it sounds like without resonators, but you can Youtube Grand Prix GXP exhaust and there are a few videos of before and after clips with stock vs stock mufflers minus resonator or aftermarket mufflers and no resonator. Until you put some headers and/or cam in the LS4, it is not as loud as an LS1/LS2/LS3 etc.
 
You can't find cams? Give comp cams a call if you want cheap stock ls2 and 3 cams make sick power on the 5.3 almost 100+ HP gains at peak power
 
That would be a nice gain!!! But are they choppy at all? And cheap or high dollar as **** lol? What's the difference between the vortech and our cars? I heard some **** about the crank is smaller? I'm mind blown lol
 


Ed Curtis cams are great. I have one in my GTO. Comp cams is another, just call around and see what fits your needs and price. A cam and a tune will really wake the LS4 up. It would totally be worth it.
