Exhaust Leak

Shop doesn't have a smoke machine and can't find my exhaust leak. I know it's leaking near the firewall and thought it was the flex. They said the flex is good and it may be a cracked exhaust manifold. Should I buy a fog machine or use Seafoam to find the leak.

buy a can of seafoam, follow the directions all but putting it in your oil. when you fire it up the exhaust will smoke like crazy, you can stuff rags in the tail pipes to slow the exhaust to force the leak to really show its self too.

Mine leaks at the catback connection and it sounds like it's coming from the flex. Right now it looks like everything is right but I can hear the leak and see some tiny holes in the paste.

e.

I used Seafoam and found the front down pipe gasket leaking. I'm going to replace it and see how the car runs. The leak sounded small, so I hope this may be it and I hope it's the only leak.

thats likely the factory flex leaking. new down pipe time.

get under it, fire it up cold and feel the area with your hands for hot air hitting your hands. the gasket hardly fails there.

Factory downpipe long gone, it's a zzp downpipe. It was smoking between the rear mani and the downpipe. I could also see the Seafoam leaking in that area as well.

The leaking gasket was from Zzp, when I purchased the downpipe. I replaced it with a factory gasket I had laying around.

Here you can see where the gasket was leaking, this is the gasket I got from ZZP when I purchased the downpipe. I had some factory gaskets laying around, so I use them.
