Exhaust Crossover

I can't get the darn thing to seal. It doesn't help that I destroyed my threads getting a snapped stud off of the rear manifold /crossover.

Ordered OEM bolts and a felpro donut gasket.

It still seems something is missing.

8 mm bolts/studs. Gasket. Heat shield.

Weren't there square nuts somewhere in the equation?

Weren't they welded to the rear flange?

Well they're gone now.

For the ruined threads, I just ran a longer stud and fastened a nut on the back side.

I do remember square nuts being somewhere in the equation though... On the rear manifold side.

Probably fell off from rust. I'd where they are now, lol. Washers it is.

The rear manifold does have two square nuts welded to it for the cross over to bolt down to. If you drilled through, just use nuts behind the rear manifold flange. Tighten then a little at a time, making the two of them fairly equal. That's all it should take. New bolts aren't the answer since you drilled out at least one of the nuts, therefore you need to replace it. The correct bolts have a stud that sticks up for the heat shield which is then fastened on with two 13mm nuts. The bolts/nuts are M8x1.25

I got it all put back together yesterday. No leaks!

I made 3 passes, ensuring that darn donut stayed in place.

I'm pretty sure the crossover had square nuts on it on the rear manifold side, but men. I just stacked washers.

Used a stud to secure the rear manifold connection.

Now I've got 3, $5 bolts to add to my pile!
