Exaust

IR II IP IDEATH

Oxymoron: Civic - Fun
Does anyone know how I could make my exaust any louder? I already have intake, res delete and single chamber flows. let me know if yall have any suggestions........................
YouTube - Grand Prix GXP exaust............... also does anyone have the jet superchip or cortex programer for the 5.3 and if so is it worth it? thanks.

Your exhaust already sounds pretty sick, but yeah you could delete the cat.
You're not talking about one of those "chips" are you?

yeah its a chip but its 280 dollars so i dont think its a cheapy....my friend seems to think the cortex programers are prettty nifty.

Doesn't matter if it's $5 or $500, there's no such thing as a "chip" for these cars. They won't do anything, except maybe **** up your engine. You need to get the PCM tuned if you want to mess with the computer. Try overkill, he's my favorite for a canned tune, or if you can find someone in your area with a powertuner or an hptuners, custom tunes are the best.

if I put on a fake cat that just gives the appearence of one but goes straight through will it throw the check engine light?

A fake cat? lmao what?? An o2 simulator would do it.
Yeah it'll still throw a code with a..fake cat..?..lol, BUT if you get that tune I told you about, you can have that code deleted. Getting a tune makes it a whole new car.

If you don't know anyone local with a tuner, check this guy out:
:: Overkill Motorsports ::
Some will tell you to go with intense, yes they're good, but I've never heard of overkill blowing an engine, can't say the same for intense.

A friend of mine who does exhaust work when he cuts the cat out he puts some kinda of spacer in there that keeps it from throwing the code. So far so good!

its just a pipe that looks like a cat but has no guts so it keeps emmisions happy just wasnt sure if it would throw the code, im trying to stay away from that and "blowing motors"

Here in Ga. the emissons test will plug directly to your car and read all the data stored in the ecm.Any mods made that affect the stock settings can be detected. This data can cause the car to fail the test and cost you a lot time and money trying to get it to pass.Be sure to check with the person doing the mod to make sure it will work.I bought a lot of SLP parts for my Trans Am that I had problems with.Try bigger diameter pipes and a bigger converter. That works for me on all my vehicles.

It isn't boosted...there isn't much a tune is going to do for a N/A V8 that has really bad intake restriction anyways...the LS4 isn't the best powerplant out there for the aftermarket. And yes...a fake converter. It is called Frozen Boost...check them out. Looks just like a high flow cat but instead of anything being there it is just a 3" pipe of straight pipe in the middle of it. I would just cut it out and have a piece of pipe welded in...but that is just me I guess. An o2 Sim just deletes the code for the converter not being there...so he would need to just have the code deleted for good if he ever got a tune. They do make handheld programmers for the GXP though...not a chip...not a tuner but it still works...like I said. Not hardly any aftermarket support for the LS4 cars minus catbacks, downpipes, intakes, and plug in play tuners...oh...and rockers...but that is about it. Anything else is going to be expensive unless you spray it.

definitely not spraying the car, i owe good money on it and i need to keep it running lol, spray is a pain in the rear to keep working.

Oh yeah that's right, I forgot he was running the LS4 not the 3800. Oops. I thought he was running the series III. Yeah I know they make the handhelds, but I couldn't tell if what he was talking about was one of those, or one of those "chips". He'll have to post a link to what he's looking at.

Keep in mind that the LSX based motors sound pretty raspy when the cat is removed. Some like it some don't.
