i just got my chrome wheels out of the shed so come to find out that i need two new tires. they have slight cracks along the outside tires (not on the rim) i dont understand how tires i only had ON for half an year could F*** up like those they are 245/40ZR18 wanli an it gonna cost me $360 for two new ones WTF have you ever heard of this?
 


sounds like dry rot but...i havent ever heard of a particular time it takes but under extream weather conditions like real hot,real cold,dry,wet, or switching between any of those things i just listed quickly will do it.
 
sitting in an uncontrolled environment is hard on them, especially if you have ever applied a tire dressing with silicone
 
Also, if you have them sitting inflated, and sitting on the tread, this will be even worse. Best bet is to lay them down and stack them on top of each other. And remove the valve stem guts before hand so no air pressure is in them.

But yeah, happens all the time. If they are not real deep. I would probably still drive on them. But that is just me. I am cheap.

I've def. driven on dry rotted tires before
 


They are "Wanli" i guess just some piece of shi** chinese tire, im not at home so i dont new the year but i bought NEW (i think) last year but in conclusion im buying two new ones ($360)with the warrenty im not trying to have this happen again so what can i do/buy so this doesnt happen and if it does how can i make sure i get the warrenty?
By the way thanks for all the imput
PS I had them sitting on top of them and they were sitting there from about Nov to April
 
It's a good idea to store them babies somewhere that stays close to the same temp all the time... like a basement... stack them, but if you have cement lay cardboard between the tire and the cement... doesnt hurt to keep the tires moist with some tire protectant either :)
 
yea, Wanli is TOTAL junk, your lucky they lasted that long....you get what you pay for and you didn't pay much for the size. When you store your tires they need to be in a nearly moisture free enviroment and away from as much light as possible. Ideally is sealed up in bags, in a back corner of a basement or garage, but ALWAYS put them in heavy bags

NOOO! Thats even worse! Tire shine is the most harmful thing you can put on a tire. Its almost 50% silicone to give it the shine and it eats the rubber apart and makes it rot faster!

Same reason armorall is junk and only makes your plastics crack sooner.
 
right... i should have been more specific on what to use... there are some good rubber storing products, which is what i was getting at since you had mentioned silicon is not good.... sorry for confusion guys
