ER rockers

Lols itll be alright thx for your concern. Even the program michel on demand doesnt mentiom new bolts. Just says to put new lock tight.
if i blow the engine so be it a l67 with all my current mods will replace it.

As cheap as new rocker bolts are.. Why chance it. Wife doesn't want you to cam it but your ok with swapping motors if **** hits the fan.

Just be thankful that you are getting these obvious responses on this forum. A lot of folks here who know their stuff and want to give the best advice possible. TTY bolts stretch and weaken, there is no argument against that. That's the way they were designed, and if you TTY them a second time you just have parts in your engine that are more prone to breakage. It's your car and you ultimately get to decide what goes in it, but don't expect half ass solutions on this forum, that's why I love it.

Anyways, congrats on the install! How does it feel?

I would have to order them in and i wanted them in before Saturday as overkill is only here saturday the goes back home to British columbia.
I didnt tell her about the rockers lol. So if it blows she won't know why lol.
But it won't. Its not the first time he has reused tty bolts and he has never had a issue. He knows what he is doing he wouldn't chance my engine.

Only went wot once and didn't feel much of a difference but the pcm probably needs to relearn. Then we put the zzp l67 high velocity tb on so gonna baby it till Saturday for the in car tune.

I'm not saying it would happen but you definitely don't want to chance it, get a set ordered and install them when they arrive.

Yep, def. get a new set of bolts in there, or get the ones Bill is selling. Once they come in just tell the wife that you have to open the covers back up to re-check the torque settings to be sure everything is correct after the "break-in" period. Then just torque em down, put the covers back on and have no cares. Car is safe, and wife is happy :th_mischievious:

Meh. Gonna leave it be. I wont cry if somethings goes ill just wait for a deal on a l67. swap the mods over(with new rocker bolts)and throw it in.

Well maybe it's cause he never saw the car again.... For a reason...

For less than $0.40 ea, you can buy "reusable" screws locally. They are just a grade 8 5/16-18 SHCS. IIRC, they are 2-1/4" long. Double check to be sure. Have them sitting on a shelf for when you swap your mods over.

This.

I ran bolts from the hardware store in my car.

For 40k+ miles. Worked just fine.

x2 I would much rather spend $20 on some bolts than replace an engine.

Here's the funny thing. If you do LIM's on a 3100 and want new bolts, it's nearly impossible to find them. All the same TTY bolts and no one on that side of the house replaces them. Hmmm?

While I don't suggest reusing, I have

Another funny thing, is that a lot of GM front brake caliper mounting bolts are TTY also. How many of us change the bolts out when changing pads? Didn't think so. Except... Didn't someone here lose one on the highway recently despite knowing they torqued them properly??

Point being is that yeah you could reuse most TTY bolts and probably never have a problem. Except the one time you do have a problem, maybe could possibly get someone killed.
