• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

i bought a 98 se with 180k on the clock for $800, figured i would use it as a DD, it drives pretty well, i changed the oil, and was planning on new tranny fluid, spark plugs, and air filter? anything else i can do to keep it maintained?
Thanks

Brakes, thermostat, struts are probably worn out but if its just a beater then you might not even want to put the money for those into it....Seafoam it through the brake booster before you do the plugs

plug wires & thermo, possibly flush the cooling system if your going to do the tranny fluid too, replacing all the main fluids will start a new DD timeline of whats new in it :th_thumbsup-wink:

Change the wires, look at the terminals of the Coil packs, if you see rust use some fine sand paper and clean them up and apply a lil dielectric grease on them. Seafoam is a great idea. But you wanna change the oil after you do it. Might not hurt to have it aligned. New belts, hoses if they look pretty old. Check all vac. lines and fittings for cracks, leaks.

There is a write up in the how-to section...i would paste the link but I'm on my phone so it would be a pain.

Clean the MAF and change the fuel filter also come to mind. Cheap and easy. And I'd bet the fuel filter has never been changed on it.

clean tb and MAF
air filter
fuel filter
spark plugs
oil change
tranny fluid change
coolant change if neccessary

and you should be good!

Add PCV valve to that as well. Just be careful not to disturb the MAP sensor when removing the PCV housing, as it is known to break.

got all of that taken care of and im not to sure about the tb, MAF, PCV valve, write ups and other stuff would be nice about them
Car is running better then new btw

you might want to pick up aluminum lim gaskets, plastic ones are a known failure, they crack then bam coolant in your oil which leads to... anyone, anyone? "yes timmy" "spun bearning" correct!!! you get a star for today!

Hit up your local Pontiac/Chevrolet/Buick dealers for the LIM gaskets. They should have them in stock. Not anymore expensive than a parts store and they won't sell you the old plastic design :th_thumbsup-wink:

what was the Grand Prix recall for a while back, i want to check to see if it ever got fixed. car is running great BTW, need to pick up a cheap deck, the current one is out, i tried re-wiring it and didn't work, might pick one up at a junk yard. then new (junk Yard) head lights to replace the garbage ones i have now, might as well drive with my headlights off no joke
