Engine Trouble

Hello, I'm new here but in desperate need of help and thought maybe I could get an answer here.

I have a 2002 GTP. I was cruising down the freeway at 70. My boost meter started freaking out going up and down up and down. Then the car started bogging out, slowing down. I pulled over and shut it off. When I started it back up to see what was going on under the hood, the car was sputtering and shaking pretty bad. The oil looks good, not milky. The motor has recently been replaced, and only had 59,000 miles on it when it was put in. The head gasket was replaced when the motor was swapped. The car itself has around 150,000. The motor didn't come come with a supercharger so the old one was used. Do you think the Supercharger is shot completely? Someone suggested O2 sensor, but it seems more severe than that.

did the check engine light come on? if so did you scan it? if you did whats the code?

if the light is on get it scanned, the code is the key.

The check engine light was on, yes. I haven't had it scanned for any codes yet. The car is at a gas station at the moment. Luckily I wasn't far from my Grandpa's house and he came and picked me up. We're borrowing a trailer to go pick it up tomorrow.

No mods.

Update: it threw 2 codes. Both said cylinder 4 is misfiring. Does that mean anything other than what it says? I'm mechanically inclined enough to tear it down and put it back together, but I have no clue what I'm doing when it comes to diagnosing issues on these electronically run motors.

I don't personally have a computer, so I took it to Autozone (not reliable, I know :/) and that's what they said. I didn't get the codes so I can't post them unfortunately. I dropped it off to a shop to be looked at and just from the brief look he took at it he said he thinks it blew a spark plug. Which would make sense if the codes are showing a cylinder misfire.

my auto zone prints out the codes and the description of the code and hands it to me. the scanner they use is just fine.

if the spark plug is smashed, you chipped a piston and its on its last leg.

The one here didn't do that. She just read the description to me.

God I hope not... literally just put that motor in a few months ago. I love the car, but I paid 4500 for it 2 years ago, and since then have put over 4000 into it... could've got a hell of a nice car for that much.

I still don't understand what "blown plug" means. Fords literally blow the plug out and dent the body. These cars have cast iron heads, so that's not possible.

go back and ask them to write the code down. thats some BS.

and fyi: you can buy a code scanner for under 20 shipped off ebay, they work just fine. i got a cheap-0 one a while back, got fed up with the free scan at autozone.

I would but we already unloaded it at a mechanic shop. I should be getting a call within a day or two, he was pretty busy.

I'll keep updating though. When I hear from him what he says is wrong with it I'll post it here and see what you guys think.

Got a call today. Cylinder 4 is dead. Absolutely no compression. I'm thinking maybe the company that i bought the engine from sent me one that wasn't supercharged. The boost on a non supercharged motor could've shot the cylinder.

I'm just not sure how it could've been that screwed with 59000 miles on it. Either they lied on the mileage, or it wasn't a supercharged engine I think.

how long has it been in the car now? did it run ok from day one? if it ran poorly from day one its a beat engine.

if you bring it back to the junk yard they should replace it within so many months for free. sadly you eat the labor on the swap.
