Engine Ticking

Just out of curiousity, does the noise stop after the car warms up or does it do it while it's warm as well? Being Alaska and -4* at 12:30 has me wondering about the oil possibly not getting pumped to the top fast enough when it's that cold.

i was goona take that video but the noise stopped so i will wait till tomorrow i guess haha
 
What oil are you running in it? Might try switching to a lighter oil on the next change and see if that helps.
 
Thickening up in extreme cold. It's just an idea, not 100% sure that's what's happening, but it wouldn't hurt anything to at least try some 5w30.
 


Good thinking Jay, I didnt give that nasty cold weather any thought at all seeing how he's in Alaska. Glad I dont live in that area! haha
 
does it go away when it warms up? i have a lifter tick in my engine. its normal for the 3.1s i guess... i found a TSB (tech service bulliten) on alldata for it. it basically said that the engine needed to be rebuilt. ive put on 9-10k and its still running fine and hasent gotten worse yet. im thinking it could be the same kind of issue
