Engine swap.

LOL, I don't have a boat so I'll leave the bottom end alone.. should I clean the lifters or leave that alone as well? Thanks for the help guys

The bottom ends of these engines don't really like being taken apart.
Probably wouldn't hurt anything to clean them.
Since you are already tearing it down that far just do a cam swap while you're in there. ;)

I'll take one lifter out and see what it looks like.

I was really contemplating going cam. I was keeping my eye out for a great deal but didn't see any. Soooo, a refreshed top end with 90# springs, lightly ported heads and intake, my 1.8 roller rockers, rollmaster single chain, water pump, and new sensors will have to do. Who knows I may get frisky and try E-85 again but this time on the stock pump and new stock injectors. I have a crap load of work to do to make 1 car first!!

how would you guys clean these valves? I've read a bench grinder wire wheel is ok to use. I'm not sure about the stem part.

Bench grinder wire wheel is what I've used in the past on valves. Ran it all the way up to where the carbon stopped.

Ok will do. I was going to try a high acid cleaner we make at work but i don't think anything but a grinder will work with these. Is it safe to clean near the seat area?

that might clean up when you lap the valves. mine looked pretty bad, most junk yard heads have this pitting and rust.

most of em looked like this

valve seats also had some rust on em.

then after lapping

and the valve seats after lapping.

I was told that the stock injectors did not have enough flow for e85.

only time stock injectors work with corn is if your on a stock tune and pulley. if your modded and tuned you'll need 60 at minimum.

Thanks Scottydoggs!! I will see how they look after the lapping.

As for e85. I thought I read a sticky in the tuning section that that said that there is a way. I may have misinterpreted it?? I don't plan on e85 anyways.

I'm probably going to stay at the 3.4 for a while. Tearing apart 2 cars to make one is plenty enough working on cars for a while.
