Engine swap question

Hello,

I have been looking around online everywhere to figure out the engine differances between N/a 3800 & 3800 s/c variant. All I have found is differance in compression ratio, N/A being higher ratio. Are there any internal engine differances? Reason being, I'm on my second GTP coupe this one is a daytona 500. I have a parts car as well, a same year Se model with N/a 3.8. Is it possible to do a motor swap? Take the N/a engine put it in the GTP and take the top end off GTP engine (intake, supercharger). What im asking is it possible to supercharge a N/a 3800 engine if its mounted to a GTP transmission and GTP computers. It is something I may be doing in the future, I just want to know if its possible. Both cars are 2000.

Thanks,

its called a top swap. its been done many times. http://www.grandprixforums.net/threads/7763-Top-Swap-Info-and-Faqs-Also-lots-of-3800-Info

in your case it more like a bottom swap tho. its what im doing with my regal. i got a used n/a engine, a spare set of L67 heads im gonna do some porting to, then all the pulleys i need are coming off my old engine in the car still.

you'll want to buy new, or reuse your knock sensors from the sc block tho. they are not the same part #.

The information is out there, you just have to look harder, lol. Different rods and Pistons, ie, compression ratio among a few other differences such as cam, etc. Top swap with higher compression ratio winds up with 5-15 HP difference all things being equal (mods) if I recall, but of course they're not equal. Lol

Thank you very much, the link has everything I need. I will be pulling the engine out of the donor when I put the car away for the summer. G8 season now :)
When I do the swap i'll take pictures along the way so it might help someone. Good luck with your build ! Ive got my G8 to Commodore conversion on the go.

If you don't want to use the SE's converter (it's lighter and stalls a bit higher, no reason not to), you'll have to swap the flex plate from the L67 on there, along with new hardware (I went with an arp set from zzp).
