Engine shutting off AGAIN!

had the car inspected today, passed! but the GP shut off on me at 3 differnt stop lights. car runs fine/normal, no issue re-starting. I have 76,xxx on the ODO. the GP has done this before, 2 weeks ago, did it twice but also around 50,xxx miles it done it a few times. I dunno what the hell it could be. 2 weeks ago, I looked at it and noticed my wizaired clamp had came un-done, fixed that. Only coulda been riding for maybe a day like that but has previous history of doing this. Manual says to run 93 only in my L32, I always do and have since I owned the car.

Any clue guys? I'm guessing fuel injectors are dirty????

inspection/emission paperwork showed the car idled at 759 RPM.

It will ONLY do it when I coming to a stop at a light or stop sign. as soon as I stop, engine just cuts off ( as if I did it with the key ). no ugly noises. I haven't dogged the car in a LONG time. last few thousand miles have been straight babied.

at first i would say a sensor like throttle position sensor or idle speed sensor, but maybe there is an igition problem at hand

^^^ unless it's the coil packs, I just changed the plugs. shouldn't be any ignition issues. hmmm maybe sensors, just thought maybe if it was a sensor, it woulda completely went out by now. ( 26k miles later )

crank position sensor is starting to go.

**** you! :th_laugh-lol2: ... Don't curse me like that Bio :th_nervous:, thats a hell job, but now that you mention it maybe? I don't have an issue re-starting the car...did I mention I have an 06 and not a crappy 98-03 :th_jester: :th_nanana:

I know this is dumb but make sure and check your battery connections as well. On the fuse box and on the battery. Other than that unplug the maf and see if it runs any better. My car was acting up kinda like yours at one time and it was a bad maf.

im not cursing you or anything and its not really that big of a job. taking the balancer off, switching the sensor, and putting it back on should only take you like an hour max.

doesn't hurt to check.

ah I know. my dad had to do it on his '00. plus there is an awesome write-up on it that he used. I just figured Pontiac woulda hooked us up with some better equiptment by the year 2006 :th_shakinghead2:
I was only aware that 97-03 had these issues.

usually when these cars throw codes, its a bad sensor. when there is a code, people new to GPs think ''what part of my engine is bad?'' people who are used to GPs ask ''which sensor is it now?''

That's usually a given for most platforms with bad sensors. Being a former SVT Contour owner I've dealt with CEL's all too often.

Lol...which sensor is it now? lmao...I like that one...

yeah I guess I'll go ahead and change the CPS, it will go one-day even if that isant my problem?

so I got the CPS changed. I am still having symptoms but they are differn't now...Sometimes it "tries to cut off at a stop". It may cut off rarely and sometimes it takes it a few tries to get it cranked...brand new CPS from advanced...Next step, Spark Plugs?
