Engine Seized

I just replaced my 3800 v6 the other day i started it up and it ran almost perfect; just a little tapping from the rockers, but as oil got to the it went away. it ran perfect for 3 days. The next day the tap came back but was worse, figured the oil level went down so i put more in but it didnt go away. As i was pulling out of a parking lot the tap turned into probably the worst knock ive ever heard. the knock got louder as the rpms went up. figured it was a vacume or exhaust leak i checked for them and nothing was wrong. the i took the valve cover off figuring it was a loose rocker not that either. so i started the car and tried to drive it around the block. after a mile or so the engine seized. Tried to restart the car, nothing. Popped the hood and tried to start it again i heard the starter trying to turn the flex plate still nothing. what could it be? i figured either a rod broke loose or my flex plate broke loose from the trans.

It's not the flexplate. Where did the engine come from and how many miles did you put on it before it siezed? Was it a yard motor or a reman?

sounds like a spun bearing, when mine seized up, one bearing went under the other one and it stopped real quick.

I got it from a yard and it has a 60 day warrenty. I rebuilt the top end but never checked the block. If it's a spun bearing Im going to end up just rebuilding the original block and put on the rebuilt top end and returning the yard one thanks for the help now I know about where to start
