engine removal

I am new to this forum and thought it would be a good place to ask a question. I have a 2000 GTP with 225,000 miles on it. I have owned the car since new and generally speaking it has been a good car. However, there are a few things that need to be done to it. I have determined it is probably time to take the engine out and give it a refresh. I want to pass this car to my daughter and want to get it back into good shape. It seems that everything under the hood is getting worn.

1) I have a presistent radiator fluid leak that comes from the engine. I replaced the intake gaskets a couple years ago. It has a new radiator and I changed the water pump thinking thats where my leak was. However it is still leaking somewhere from the front of the engine. Since this is my first FWD vehicle I do not know what is involved in removing the engine.

2) I have transmission problems but it throws no codes. With a scanner attached it shows it shifts fine. But driving down the road.... the car shifts great until you hit about 40 mph. You can feel it drop out of OD and lockup with 2 destinctive shifts. final drive now is about 3000 RPM at 70. Use to be 1875 at 70. Whats going on.

3) I am mechanically inclined and can probably handle the work. Just not on the sideways mounted *****.

any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ben

If I toook this one step further will the 04 L32 engine and transmission drop in without issue and will the L67 ECU be able to run the car without any problem.

Is the L32 better than the L67?

Feed back appreciated

L32 IMO is better...but not enough to where you'll notice much difference minus the GenV blower vs. the GenIII.

first of all thanks for all the information. Started searching for parts and found the 4T65E-HD transmission. I also found the briadcast code on mine. It is XBB. What is the difference in the XAB and XBB. Will the XAB work in my car without issues?

If you are passing this car down to your daughter, I would go with an L67. Cheaper and is exactly the same as the L32 minus the heads and the blower.
