engine light and comp port dont work

ok so i went to autozone to see if they can see why idle iis surging. and when he turned the key the engine didn't flash like normal and he plugged the scanner in and said he wasn't getting any power from the port. anyone else have this problem and or any ideas why this is. also my speedometer recently stopped working
 


it could be a lot of things. you need to get a volt meter and find where your not getting power. start with the fuses.
 
I think I remember reading that the GP's OBD2 port shares power with the cigarette lighter, so check your fuses.
 
I have never heard of this myself, does not mean it could not happen though.

Where in Detroit are you, I can try scanning it for free with my Tech II.
