Engine Codes P0171 and P0102 need help

Modded for Maximum Slow
So about last week Wednesday my car (2000 GT) started to feel like it was misfiring or something. Car has 153,000miles so its probably time for something to be replaced. The engine light did not come on right away and I was not sure what was going on. Eventually the light came on (first time in the 2+ years of owning the car) so I took in to an auto parts store and it gave codes P0171 for System Too Lean (Bank 1) and P0102 Mass Air Flow Low Circut Input. I pulled out the MAF and cleaned it again and put it back in. Still have the problem. Someone told me its possible that I have a vac leak so I sprayed ether stuff all around and engine did not jump so I figured it was not that. O2 sensor is the only thing I can really think of that may be causing the problem because the MAF looks perfectly fine. I thought that there was a test that you could do by unplugging the O2 and seeing how it ran or something but I am not sure. Any help is appriciated. I've been pretty busy with school and stuff so I might not be on here much to give feedback but we will see.

It's not the O2 sensor. The issues you are having are caused by P0102 and since you know that's an issue with the maf, check the wiring to it and replace the maf.

Alright. Is there any way to check the voltage of the maf wiring to see if the wiring is good or bad? The maf sensor itself does not appear broke and looks mint yet. Id hate to spend like $150+ on that part on find out thats not the problem.

Hi, I have a similar problem as I first had a P0102 code. I actually replaced my MAF sensor with a used one from the junkyard. It came of a 3.8 Camaro and the part numbers matched. After installing it, it threw another code P0171 which to my understanding is also MAF related. Should I just buy a brand new one? I'm really trying to save myself a $150 investment. I recently replaced all the vacuum hoses and checked for leaks.

Before replacing the MAF the car ran fine but would stall only in cold and high moisture conditions. I did the unplug test, with no difference. That told me that I needed to replace the MAF. Now the car is idling rough, but not stalling anymore. Thus, giving me P0171.

also check the wires to the plug for the maf, look for bare wire or cracks in the wire insulation, any bare wire showing and thats your issue.

I cleaned the MAF before putting it in. I actually went ahead and just bought a new one, at least then I can eliminate the part of the problem. All wiring looks good to the MAF. There has been tampered with the wiring for the MAP and TPS sensors though, but nothing bare showing. I was going to redo the wire buds and see if that would eliminate the problem.

Just a late update on what the problem was with my car. It did turn out to be the MAF sensor. Solved all my problems.
