Engine buzz, proportional to RPM

hey guys, so i have an issue with my 2002. i have a loud buzz, it could be called a whine, but i would say that its more a buzzing sound. it is directly propertional to my rpm. quiet slow buzz at idle, loud fast buzz at high end. at first i thought it was the super charger, and i was curious as to how it started but kinda liked it cause frankly it sounds awsome... but as it grew louder i started searching for it. and it is comming more from below the coil packs, i thought it was the bearing in the water pump but thats not it. to far forward, i thought it was the AC compressor and im still not sure its not. i took the belts off and played with all the pulleys and none were lose or felt like the bearings were grinding. to AC compressor has what felt like a loose disc on the front of the pulley but i played with it a bit and it doesent sound like the same noise at all. and as far as my ear can tell its comming from a little more back than the AC compressor. if you stood on the passenger side fender looking at the pulleys the sound, sounds like it is comming from about an inch to the back of the coil packs... any help is greatly appriceated. I will see what you guys say and tomorow if your still needing more info i will get a sound clip of the noise.

Take your SC belt off and start the car, that will tell you which belt system the noise is coming from. Usually idler and tensioner pullies are the ones to go bad first but it could also be the belt itself.

hey guys sorry never got no sound clip but i did exactly as said before and turns out it was the idler pulley... cars all quiet now... kinda sad though i liked the sound haha made it sound more powerfull :p
