i have to do a 4-5 page paper for my Eng 102 class and i decided to do it on street racing. i have some questions that you can answer. you can e-mail me the answers. if you would like you can use your forum name or make up a name. my e-mail is [email protected]

Have you ever street raced?

if so, why?

when do you do it?

what risks do you think you are taking?

what types of vehicles do you race against? why do you race against them?

if anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated. thanks

sent you an email.

what you could do that might help you out is make a poll thread out of one of the questions so you have a stat to use in the paper. youll probably get more people to answer the poll than send you an email answering all the questions. just a thought.

good luck on the paper man

Have you ever street raced?

Yes I have, every weekend a long time ago. I haven't done that in several years, its been at least 5 years.

if so, why?

I was young, dumb, and full of ***.

It was fun. I used to race with a group that met at a local Sonic. I'd meet some of the same people every weekend. Met some real good people and made some good friends at the time. They were into various types of cars, Import, Domestic, exotic, etc. We would bull**** for hours there before meeting at a spot to do the deed.

As crazy as this sounds, we were "smart street racers". We weren't like these dumbass ricers of today that race anywhere and everywhere in traffic at all hours of the day. We went to a deserted location outside of town. There was a car posted a mile away on both ends with walky talkies dispatching to the guy flagging the cars. They would alert us if any cars were coming (which wasn't common where we were at) or cops. We didn't do anything until the road was clear period.

People nowadays don't have common sense.

when do you do it?

Usually about 1:00am-4:00am Sunday Morning. For a little while when the cops cought on to us we would meet up on Monday Nights and Wednesday nights (called Monday Night Madness and Wednesday Night Madness. Meet up at 10:00pm at a Sonic and start the racing at 1:00am. Get er done, then go home and get some sleep for a couple hours and head to work/school.

what risks do you think you are taking?

You can risk losing your license and loosing your car in some cases. Risking your life., Especially racing someone you've never raced before. You don't know if the person beside you can drive there car safely. Also, if you're racing someone and they loose control of there car and die, you get faced with manslaughter charges and you'll rot in jail. Its not worth the risks, thats why I got out of it cold turkey. If I feel the need to race so bad, the local track is only $15 a night to have all the fun I want.

what types of vehicles do you race against? why do you race against them?

In my car at the time (being a bolt on car) I raced LT1 F-bodies, Fox Bodies, WRXs, etc
Before my car I was racing my buddies Road Runner and we pretty much raced all sorts of cars, LS1s, BB Fords, BB Chevys, GNs, etc.

Have you ever street raced?

Yes, Just about to get my license taken away for it matter of fact. For 2 racing tickets in 1 month.

if so, why?

That is a good question. To prove that I am faster. To make you think twice about v6's. To feel happy. To feel like all of my hard work on my car actually payed off. To impress someone. To feel cool. to get the adriniline rush.

when do you do it?

Anytime. When ever I don't see any cop's. Whenever I see a car that I am pretty sure I could beat but he thinks he could beat me and pull 4 cars on me without any issues. Day.Night. Does not matter.

what risks do you think you are taking?
Killing someone. Killing you're self. Totaling you're car. Going to jail. Paying fines.Messing up your car. Sad to say I have over 25 tickets. Probably payed over 10,000 in probation fees and fines. Not counting the higher insurance preimums I pay. Had my license suspended 2 times counting this one. And i'm only 20 and only had my license since I was 18.

Some would argue the fact that I should ever be allowed behind a motor operated vehicle.

what types of vehicles do you race against? why do you race against them?

Anything that Will give me a run for my money and a normal v8 could keep up with. I don't race car's I KNOW i will beat like a stock honda. I have raced and tend to go for the mustangs, 03-04 cobras, gto's, turbo'ed imports. The fast stuff.

Why? Because they will give me ''competetion''

I will say this. I have learned my lesson and it's about damn time. And I promise that.I'm tired of loosing my license. This will be the second time. So this time it's gone for a year. I'm tired of paying fines. I don't get into any trouble besides with my car. And since I ncant seem to control the urge of racing behind the wheel. I've chose a less expensive hobby but something that will still give me a rush. A raptor 660 4-wheeler and A T-maxx nitro R/C car. I have also chosen to drive a slow car. A GP that is N/A.

I am not afraid to admit to my mistakes. And I have mad A LOT when it comes to getting behind the wheel. I'm not one of those crazy people that drive all crazy everytime I go somewhere. But I do make very poor decisions. And I have not gotten other tickets besides the speeding/reckless driving ect. No DUI's or anything like that. I feel that I am a very good driver in the sense of avoiding accidents and being able to control my vehicle in any circumstance. And maybe that's my problem. You can't always prevent something that you can't control. Like another person driving their own car for example.

Hope that helped some with you're paper.

Yes

Bored, crappy cars with punks driving needing to be put in their place... adrenaline needs to be kicked in sometimes, the why varies based on scenario...

when do you do it?
again, this answer varies... usually just when you get that one person that needs to be set straight... u know the kind, primed/6-tone civic, loud apexi or worse (autozone) exhaust... and usually during the day because it is easier to see if there are any cars (and cops) around

what risks do you think you are taking?

plenty, personal injury, injury to by-standers, lose of car (either wreck or motor)... but you take precautions to prevent this usually... i am not one that will do this if there is a large chance someone will be hurt

what types of vehicles do you race against? why do you race against them?

anything and everything... if it is a "riced" vehicle, i just do it to set them straight and let them know they need to do some more work.... if it is a car i KNOW is faster, it is usually so i can hear their car as it leaves me in the dust... i love v8 exhaust notes!!!!!!!!
