• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Electronics/Google Gurus step in!

I'm looking for a source for these AMP/Tyco Electronics parts. Any of them will do. I've found a few places that will ship me only 20 of them (as opposed to spools of 30000+) but most of them have a minimum order of at least $30. I only need 20 of them or so which usually is about $.15/ea for a total of $3.00. Anybody have any good sources for this stuff?

yea, mouser doesn't carry these. That was the first place I looked. I just ordered some other pins from them a few weeks back and it went great. I'm bummed they don't have these.

Hmmm, I looked at newark but apparently, I missed the 1 part number they cary that doesn't require thousands be ordered at once!! Thanks again Toasty. The one they have is for 24-22 awg wire and I was hoping to find some for 18-22awg. Any other good sources??

the 2nd part number is the same gauge wire, just uses a different contact material... the first is brass and the 2nd is phosphor bronze.

Don't see any of them on the second site you listed.

I'm trying to match up a connector that is already there. I have otherways of doing it but I was trying to find a way to make it plug and play.

could you possibly use the one terminal that i found, and make it work with the slightly larger gauge wire? (crimp as well as possible, and use a little dab of solder to secure it?)

i'm just VERY surpised to see a tyco connector inside a GM vehicle... it is stamped tyco, right?

no tyco stamp but I looked up the part number from the connector diagram and that's what I came up with.

I think I will try using the small one that you found since its all I've got. Its the HUD control signal wires so I could probably use a small gauge wire and be OK.

I like doing things the right way even if it is a a little more work. If the tabs I find don't work out, I'll probably go with just finding some other 5 or 6 pin connector and use that instead.

can you post up the connector diagram you've got?

i suppose there's a first for everything, but i have NEVER seen a tyco connector in a gm car....
